Their older series (fnp) they made a compact but literally it was the same gun with half inch short barrel/ frame. They decided against future attempts. I have no doubt on their abilities to make one, but they are sticking to their full size park of the market. I second the fnx isn't too bad for carry.
I have the fnx .45 15+1 and it is a great shorter with the cold hammer forged barrel and low recoil
