FMJ Ammo

Looking for input on FMJ and if they are low, mid or higher quality ammo.

Huh? Quality has nothing to do with whether it's a FMJ. It's not what you want for your defensive round loadout though.

Really can't add to that comment, all in what you want to shoot and why..... as to which ammo 'type' is the best. But "type" of ammo, has nothing to do with quality of it.

Great to practice with but no good for self-defense...

I load with Hornady Critical Duty in my 9MM - 40cal and my 45..

With that said you should shoot some of what you carry so you will understand how your weapon behaves with it.

FMJ is good for practice, comes in a variety of weights (grains), and is cheaper thean defensive rounds. Best bet, shoot FMJ rounds for practice at the range that are the same weight as the deffensive rounds you chose to carry.

Now that depends... for the most part I agree with you however, in colder climates where people dress in far heavier clothing, FMJ can be better given it will penetrate more efficiently than hollow point.

That's why I carry Critical Duty in my 9mm and my .40 cal weapons.
