can someone tell me if the non resident Florida CC. is accepted by Delaware for a Delaware Resident? was thinking of getting Florida CC instead of jumping through all the hoops in Delaware. if I'm reading the info right, they don't accept but I want to be sure.
thanks Dave L.

I believe to get a non resident ccw from Florida you have to have a resident ccw from your state. You have to send them your certificate of training from your state before they will issue a non resident ccw.

Not true hot rod. You can get a nonresident FL CCW with no other CCW's. Delaware does honor Non resdient FL CCW's.

If you are a resident of Delaware you MUST have a Delaware CCW. The only time a FL non resident works in DE is if you are NOT a resident of DE. If you hold a DE drivers lic. And are caught CC'ing and you present a FL Non resident you will go to jail.

Hot rod, that is the way I'm reading the map as well. training is not an issue that I already have. just was looking at a less hoop filled option and also less expensive way out.

No doubt! I looked into the exact thing you did before I found out it would not work. Total BS to have to go through all the crap. Good news is, if all of your ducks are in a row, they rarely deny anyone.

no, it is not valid for DE resident.

one of my friends had his denied for miner traffic tickets that where over ten years old. most of witch he tells me are actually warnings.

I think you got have your answer however, that means i am not reading the map the same way 2 other people looked at it. If you click on Florida non-Resident, it shows as "honored" in Delaware. I understand that doesn't apply to Delaware residents but how are hot-rod and Dave reading it differently? It does turn blue meaning honored.

This is the reason that PA recently rescinded it's reciprocity with Florida for Non-Resident permits.

From what I understand, PA residents(gang members and thugs) in Philly who did not have a PA permit were using the defense that they had Florida Non-Resident permits which allowed them to carry. They also found that their associates(also gang members and thugs) from NJ and other states were also using FL Non-resident permits in PA, again without permits in their home states, in order to carry and commit crimes in PA.

So, realize that what you are trying to do, skirting the law of your home state, is the main reason that many other states do not want to offer or are revoking reciprocity for non-resident permits.

Being a Law-Abiding Gun Owner doesn't mean you are law-abiding only when it's convenient.

Jrs, I know what you're getting at, however I have to disagree that the notion of holding or using a non-resident license was to avoid issues with questionable backgrounds. Are you aware of any instances where people were deliberately pursuing and using these to avoid being denied a resident license in Pennsylvania? I only ask because I would be surprised to find out that another state issuing a non-resident license would somehow miss an applicant's criminal background while processing a license for someone that is specifically not a resident of the state to which they are applying. The point I am simply driving at is that it seems ridiculous that some states, from what it would appear Delaware being just one, are so intentionally difficult or laborious about the process while other states can accomplish the same result with a lot less pain. I'm less inclined to stand in defense of the state's process and cry foul when someone uses the accepted provisions to achieve the same net effect, and more inclined to cite the state as having an overtly bureaucratic process in place for its citizens to prove their trust as upstanding citizens with the right to protect themselves. Just my two cents...

Jr, not really skirting the laws of the state, just wanted to know if Delaware honors them to resident as a legal means. this would not be skirting the law. cost is main issue. and didn't want to have to broadcast to the whole state in the news papers like we have to that I'll be carrying that's all. not that its an issue other than don't feel everyone in the state needs to know. not to mention you can spend upwards of $400.00 and be denied because the judge had a bad day and no refund. Florida's cost is $107 I think and is a sure thing if everything is in order. ie. no record. don't get the gang thing they shouldn't be able to get through if they have a record.

Woodie, if you look at Delaware info: "states that honor Delaware" Florida is in Yellow and it says "resident permits only" meaning Delaware wont honor a non resident permit if you are a Delaware resident. is still honored by other states though for a Delaware resident. just can't use it to carry in Delaware.
