Florida non resident permit

I was wondering if there was any chance of MI ever accepting a non resident Florida
Permit? I am in the Great Mitten for school and was hoping to have a chance to CC.
I'm not to inclined to open carry in my current location because of the local PD
attitude toward the subject from what i hear it is an inconvience and don't want to be hassled. I am currently a resident of IL. Sorry for the grammer I typed this up on my
phone.

As a Michigan resident I would say the chances are slim to none. Although Michigan has done a lot to improve our concealed carry laws I don't know of any drive to accept non resident licenses. Open carry is inconvenient because of all the restricted areas if you are not a CPL holder and as soon as you enter a vehicle there is no way to legally carry. You would have to lock it in the trunk or other secure area. Also, you won't be able to carry in any of the Gun Free School Zones which, since you said that you're a student, would make it even more difficult.

About your only chance to carry in Michigan would be on a resident permit from a state that Michigan honors. As much as I bate to say this, as long you're living in Illinois, you're screwed.

That's what I figured the situation would be. Well here to hoping IL HB 148 passes this year, and will be
recognized by MI. I tossed around the idea of becoming a resident up here, but decided against it for a number of reasons. To avoid starting another thread Im under the impression all I need to open carry is my FOID card.
can anyone confirm this?

I'm really not sure what a FOID card would do for you in Michigan. Open carry is allowed because it isn't prohibited by law, but it is restricted from certan areas.
