Florida non-resident CCW

I am an active Duty Marine. just recently moved to Kansas City, Kansas after being stationed for 5 years in one of the most liberal states in the Union.....Hawaii. I am now a Marine Corps Recruiter and dont have time to actually do the 8 hour class that Kansas requires for the CCW. Is it possible to get a Florida CCW being i live in Kansas considering Kansas recognizes Florida's?

Yes it is and you don't even need a class. Call Florida at 1-850-245-5681 and have them mail you a packet than fill it out and include a copy of your dd214 or your currant orders and that's it. ( in the packet is a fingerprint card that you have done at a local law enforcement office)

When I spent my 8 years in the Corps, I lived many places including Kalifornia. However, My official "Home of Record" was Illinois. So no matter where I lived, my license plates and drivers license and taxes were always Illinois. Don't know if the "home of Record" thing still applies now, but if so, you may be able to get a CCW from your original State.

First of all, thank you for serving your country.
Along with your DD214, or a copy of your orders (neither is needed), you should also include your M9 qualification form. I am not a marine, so I don't know what you call yours, but when I got my license from Florida, I included mine (not my orders or DD214). It took me less than a month from submission to getting the card in the mail, and I am a non-resident as well. Good luck.

While most Kansas residents cannot use another state's license to legally carry a concealed handgun in Kansas, active duty military personnel who have a Kansas-recognized license and do not obtain a Kansas driver's license or state ID card.

Active duty military personnel and their dependents may continue to carry concealed handguns in Kansas if:

they have an unexpired concealed carry license issued by a jurisdiction that is recognized in Kansas; and
they maintain their non-resident (non-Kansas) driver's license or personal identification card.

The out-of-state CCHL is valid in Kansas so long as the license is considered valid by the issuing state. Military personnel with Kansas driver's licenses must acquire a Kansas CCHL in order to lawfully carry a concealed handgun in Kansas.
