Florida CCW in Wisconsin?

I am a Florida resident with a Florida CCW permit. I also own a home in Wisconsin. As I understand it, I cannot carry concealed in Wisconsin via reciprocity, and I cannot apply for a Wisconsin carry permit because I am not a resident. So, bottom line is that I cannot ever carry in Wisconsin! Am I missing something?

Without getting another out of state permit that Wisconsin accepts then unfortunately you are correct.
I think it is stupid also being that we modeled our license off of yours.

Or a MN non-resident permit. The Utah non-resident permit is valid in more states however. You can take a MN or Utah class here in Wisconsin, you don't need to travel to that state to get it.

Thanks

Thanks to all that have replied to this thread. Looks like AZ would be a quick paperwork shuffle, however, I will check into UT as well. Thanks again all.

One point of eligibility off the application:

"Applicant is a Wisconsin resident as indicated by a current and valid Wisconsin driver license or identification card." Link Removed

I have the opposite problem as you. I live in Wisconsin but travel to Florida regularly.
I am a resident of Wisconsin and have a Wisconsin and a non-resident Florida permit. You can get the Florida permit over the mail. You will need to get finger printed at a Sheriff station.

Just received this response from AZ:

RECENT CHANGE IN ARIZONA LAW - Senate Bill 1108

Effective July 29, 2010, Arizona is now a constitutional carry state, which means everyone can carry concealed without a permit in Arizona, if it is not posted otherwise. You must be 21 years old and not a prohibited possessor under state or federal law.

With that new law, we will be implementing new procedures and rules allowing other firearm training courses (including military training, any NRA firearms class, and some other states permits) in place of the 8hr CCW course previously required.

You have to provide proof of firearms training. Below is the full list of alternate documents we can accept.

ALTERNATE DOCUMENT SUBMISSIONS (13-3112)

_ GENERAL PUBLIC COURSES/CLASSES (E6b, N2)
...A current or expired permit issued by DPS…

_ GAME & FISH (E6B, N3)
Original/Copy of certificate/card/document of completion of any hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the Arizona Game & Fish or a similar agency of another state.
**Document from “similar agency of another state” requires supervisor approval.

_ NRA (E6b, N4)
Original/Copy of certificate/card/document of completion of any National Rifle Association (NRA) firearms safety or training course.

_ SECURITY GUARD (E6b, N5)
Original/Copy of certificate/card/document of completion of the DPS Armed Security Guard firearms safety course; or any law enforcement firearms safety or training course or class that is offered for security guards, investigators, special deputies or other divisions or subdivisions of law enforcement or security enforcement.
**Courses/classes other than DPS Armed Security Guard course must be approved by DPS through submission of lesson plan.

_ LAW ENFORCEMENT (Et6b, N8)
Original/Copy of certificate/card/document of completion of any governmental police agency firearms training course and qualification to carry a firearm in the course of normal police duties.
**May require supervisor approval.

**TBD – Requires supervisor approval.

_ MILITARY/DD-214 (E6c, N6)
Original/Copy of U.S. Department of Defense form 214 (DD-214) indicating an honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions; or a certificate of completion of basic training or any other document demonstrating proof of current service in the U.S. Armed Forces or former service with honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions from U.S. Armed Forces.
**Documents other than DD-214 may require supervisor approval.

_ STATE PERMITS (E6d, N7) **NOT ALL STATES PERMITS WILL QUALIFY**
Original/Copy of a valid current or expired concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state and that has a training or testing requirement for initial issuance.
**Requires verification of good standing and training/testing requirement.

I will mail an application packet to the address you provided.

**Please note** New application packets are taking 10-14 business days to be mailed due to volume and a staffing shortage.

Thank you for your patience.

The packet includes the application, 2 fingerprint cards, and return envelope.
The fee is $60 (money order/cashier's check only).

**NEW PERMIT APPLICATIONS TAKE 6-8 WEEKS TO PROCESS AT THIS TIME**

I will be in Florida in February. I'll probably to the application in person. It would have been nice to no have to pay any app fees though.

Florida does NOT accept any non-resident license from any state. So, Wisconsin residents will need to get a Florida non-resident license in order to be able to carry in Florida.

Actually Florida's license may be a better non-resident license to get, since it is accepted by more states than Utah's license.

If you might be traveling to Minnesota keep in mind Minnesota does not have reciprocity with Florida. Myabe consider a Minnesota Non-Resident permit. You will have to apply in person at any sheriff's office, Ramsey County (St. Paul) has about a 20 day turn around time
