FL concealed Carry

Hi im new to this site i had a question about floridas laws i read through section fl. 790.26 can be taken both ways legal & illegal for concealed carry.

What im asking is i have a concealed carry license and i work for a school district county. Is it legal to possess a concealed firearm in my personal vehicle on county school property, this property is not on any school ground or administration building but is surrounded by a school & admin building. i do have to drive past the buildings to get to work. would i be legal in this case?

I am not sure what you have been reading, but I can not find 790.26 in the 2016 Florida Statutes | Weapons and Firearms section. Read http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/florida.pdf for a synopsis and 790.115 for the law on possession on school property.

Maybe 790.26 is a typo and was supposed to be another number?

If you have a Fl issued CWOFL then driving past the schools is covered by the Federal Law exemption for the 1000 ft boundary. As they own the property and you are an employee, it is up to their policy about parking and leaving it in the vehicle. As a former state employee there were times when it was strongly suggested to us by higher ups that we should have one in our vehicles even though normally it was forbidden. The next day there was a loaded M16 on site with a NG member to use it. With us being told where the extra mags/ammo was in case we were the ones that had to use it.
