I just sent in my paperwork to Fl. last week with ink paper prints and I live in NJ. Does anyone know of the average (if there is such a thing) wait time to have them issue the permit.

I got mine about a year ago and it took me at least 3 months but no longer than 4. I think it was closer to 4 though. They are very busy with ccw permits down there especially non res. Florida and Utah have the best bang for the buck as far as reciprocity. I also got a Virginia one as well it took me less than a month 2 weeks I think. No reason to get the Virginia one Florida covers all of what Virginia does and then some. The place where I went took me for a ride and got extra money out of me. When I went to do this I didn't know about this forum and reciprocity maps or I could have saved about $50. The only thing I gained out of it I was able to carry in PA (where I mainly carry) in 2 weeks instead of waiting 4 months for my Florida. Well anyway that’s the way it was, don’t know if it’s still like that but I’ll bet it is. Good luck and hope you get it real soon.

Florida was WAY behind a year ago... As a resident, I waited over 90 days (Mandatory time limit to issue the permit). However, they have really got their act together and many are receiving their permits within 3 weeks now..
So, I'd say you won't have to wait too long so long as nothing pops up in your background check, then all bets are off..

Thanks for the replies my background should be fine I just got my handgun buy permits for NJ in just under two months the trooper that took my paperwork said turnaround time was about three months so I don't know if they got better or my clean background helped.

That's actually pretty good for New Jerkistan. It's law though that they have to give you a response in 30 days. It took me 45 days to get my FID card with 2 handgun permits. It's screwed up it took me 45 days to be able to purchase a firearm or even handle one in a store in this state but, Virginia gave me the right to carry a loaded firearm in less than 30 days. Totally flipping amazing. Well as you say it looks like you are on your way if you got your permits you should have no problem with your CCW. The only thing you may have to worry about is everything filled out right all your t's crossed and I's dotted that type of thing. When i took my required handgun coarse they helped make sure that was all done.

Waiting Period

It depends on the work load. In some cases they take the full 90 days and in some it is less than three weeks.
Ironically I was looking at a NJ to learn about NR permits to make it easier to travel to Boston and can't get one even though I am licensed in four states.
