I wonder if this health spa had a 'no firearms allowed sign' posted at the entryway as many places do. Very sad situation whenever law abiding & unarmed citizens are unable to defend themselves from a psychotic nutjob in a GFZ.

Every place where shootings occur doesn't have a gunbuster sign. Remember, criminals are opportunists, and I don't think signs somehow magically embolden them. I think criminals pay more attention to how busy a business is (the more customers, the more money the business make) than they do to the presence (or lack thereof) of a sign. Just my humble opinion though.

We have a large & very nicely equipped fitness chain out here in Texas that my neighbor told me about. I wanted to become a member so I checked it out. I originally spoke to one of the employees over the phone about signing me up for a family membership package. He told me to come on in and check out the facilities.

The next day I went to the gym to check it out.
On my way into the building I saw the dreaded 'No Guns Allowed' signage.

I ultimately decided not to join because of their anti-gun policy & their employee said to me.
"Well we do have many police officers who are members here sir. There is really no need to worry about your families safety & security with all of the cops who work out in here."

I responded with. "Can you guarantee us that an armed cop will even be in the gym when we are actually here?"

He replied, "Ummm No, but.."

I interrupted with, "Thanks for your time, I'm sorry that we couldn't get this membership completed. Have a nice day sir."

He seemed a bit annoyed that I wasted his time.

This kind of stuff escalates in a bad economy. The purp doesn't care if there is a no gun sign or not. He has one thing on his mind, punish whomever he preceives is at fault. Long as we have a poor economy, people are loosing jobs and can't find new ones, the family fabric will be ripped apart. This kind of thing will continue. When emotions take over some can't control them and they see no other way out.
