Can I hulster and carry a handgun with out a concealed permit. as long as it is in view? in North Carolina

In a lot of places. You should go to the NC Carry laws and check out the law itself. Asking here for that info may get you put in jail and lose your favorite handgun.

I used to live in N.C. and at that time Open Carry was not allowed. I doubt it has changed. You better check with N.C. carry laws. (See link at top of this page. It'll get you started.

Yes, OC is allowed in NC. Check the laws though as to where you're not allowed to carry:

Gov't buildings
Any business serving alcohol for consumption
ABC store

That's just off the top of my head. I usually CC so I don't want to list the places I'm unsure of

Good question. NC has: OC Law, CC Law, newly arrived at "Castle Doctrine" and requires a pistol permit to even buy one. Open carry without a Permit? Have never seen anything on it either way.

A nice little research project for you. Do post results, I'm frankly curious as well, now.

You forgot the most curious one..... "places where admission is charged for entry". That one I have to admit to breaking once in a while, when I go to a late movie. The local teenie punks like to hang around the place on Fri/Sat nights. While no untoward incidents have been reported as yet... there is always a first time. ..and I don't want to the victim of the first time.

I believe the idea was to prevent guns in baseball games, concerts, et al. But, one tries to be all inclusive, yes? The "Places where alcohol is served" sticks in my craw too. Better would be "No carry if your alcohol content is high enough to preclude you from driving legally." ... and THAT would be the best compromise on that level of contesting the Law.

no it's not. It is best if you recognize that carrying a gun puts you on a much higher plane of responsibility, and don't drink while you are doing so. The whole thing, drinking, smoking, doping, it's all stupid. What's the benefit? zero, with lots of health and legal risks, especially the smoking, endangers their health/lives, not just the "stink", which the a-holes THINK is the only issue. The there's the "ground exists for me to throw cigarette butts on" arrogance, which should be cause for an asswhupping, on the spot.

OC is legal in NC with noted exceptions. Hotti, you've seem to have a few issues that you might want to work out :>) Gotta match?

Ref: "Hotti" (as in hot head?)

Ah.... another fanatic heard from.

I am quite used to and accept responsibility for my weapons and the use/non-use thereof. I don't believe I need your coaching, reproachment or approval for my actions.... either way. It's what "free men" do.

I DO look askance at those who would have it their way, come hell or high water..... just because it suits THEIR version of how the world should be.

Besides, you left out the most recent "grouping" of people you of the superior insight to life have seen fit to "denegrate"..... the plethora of lard butts prevalent in this Country these days. If you are going to be a health fanatic/nazi of ANY note or repute, best you keep up with the current events in your select and elite circles.

Just sayin'.

It's a good thing you weren't around. I was just at a stop light and emptied my ashtray.

I've lived here since '88, and open carry was legal then. I'm reasonably sure open carry has always been legal in NC. It definitely is currently legal, no permit required for open carry.
