Supporters of the 380 sheriffs in 15 states who so far have vowed to defy new state and federal gun control laws claim that legislation is starting to pop up around the nation to fire any state elected or appointed law enforcement official who doesn’t obey federal orders.
The first effort emerged in Texas. Legislation proposed by Dallas Democratic Rep. Yvonne Davis would remove any sheriff or law enforcement officer who refuses to enforce state or federal laws.
What’s more, it would remove any elected or appointed law enforcement officer for simply stating or signing any document stating that they will not obey federal orders.
A gun lobbyist told Secrets, “Beware because once something like this is introduced in one state, it will be followed very quickly in several other states.”
Secrets has charted the growing group of sheriffs opposed to new gun control initiatives. They argue that citizens should be allowed by buy the types of weapons they want to defend themselves. They also claim that there is no way to tell the difference between old rifle and pistol magazines and new ones that President Obama wants to ban.

And it seems to me that the counties should be deciding what they want to pay them to do and not the state. Don't the states have their own police? In Florida we do. As do many others.

They don't have the power to fire a Sherriff. He is an elected official... They can work to get him voted out of office.

They are federalizing your local SDs and PDs.

No, elected officials cannot be 'fired', they have to be recalled.

You do know your local NG is federalized? Don't you?

Get with the program......you are not safe.

What about politicians that took an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution? They should be arrested for Treason!

The issue is Constitutional Law v. County Chief LEO enforcement. That multiple states Chief LEOs (A.G.) & County Chief LEOs have caused so much concern at the Fed & state levels speaks volumes. You have a duty to contact your representatives at all levels and tell them to back off or face nor being re-elected.

If your state's Senator is being named in the current Bloomberg blitz, thank them for standing up for your Rights. If your state's Senator isn't a target, ask them why they want to sign away your Rights while reminding them about their next election bid tanking.

BTW, anyone that's seen the current Bloomberg ads notice that the 'responsible guy' talking has his finger on the shot gun's trigger. Gotta love it when those who would dictate screw up like that.

The question to ask all that would impose their rules on us- Will you make your armed guards live by the same rules? ...and Will you be giving up your armed security forces?

If that law passes, then they need to fire all those legislators and governors that legalized marijuana in Washington/Colorado. Just sayin :-)

Maybe we should propose legislation that would find any legislator guilty of treason for proposing any gun control legislation. That should solve the problem once you hang a few of these idiots!!

Obviously, the good Senator from TX hasn't been following the SCOTUS decisions pertaining to county sheriffs enforcing federal laws. Seems that sheriffs do not have the authority to enforce federal immigration laws. So therefore they do not have the authority to enforce federal guns laws.

Someone should explain to the senator form TX that the request is a double edged sword. If a sheriff, an elected official, can be "fired", then ANY elected official can be fired, including the good senator.

Turn about is fair play...

Bahaha nice one Obummer! We the people elected ours, try and unseat him! I'll lay my life down to ensure that you don't subvert another election process, as I'm sure every one of his deputies will as well.

Seems like extortion from the progressive liberal anti-gun legislators. First, they threatened to withhold pay raises.
