Before this thread goes completely off the rails on what is and what is not a clip or magazine (or a magazine clip), lets look at carrying two or more guns. cds0699 mentioned that a similar (or same) manual of arms is quite important. There is also the option of using two compatible guns that can take the same magazine. An example for this would be a Glock 19 (or 23) and a Glock 26 (or 27). This would allow for any spare magazine you carry to be used in either gun. The negative side of that is that you would carry two double-stack guns, where the smaller gun is as thick as the bigger gun. In contrast, the S&W M&P 9c (or 40c) and the S&W M&P Shield 9 (or 40) have incompatible magazines, but the S&W M&P Shield is quite thinner. This video may help:
