Finally received my CCW Permit

New member here. After 2 months wait, I finally received my CCW permit! Woohoo! I live in AZ so I don't "have" to have a permit to carry, but like the idea of reciprocity and the education I would get with the full 8hr CCW class.
It also makes me proud to be able to exercise my 2A right. Being prior military and the son of a 27 yr Chief of Police it just gave me a sense of pride to get it. Goofy post I know, but I was excited it finally came in

Congrats! I was about as excited to get mine as I was when I got drivers license. Now for the "WalMart" walk!

LOL, I was too. I was hootin' and hollerin' when I got the mail. I go once a week and buy 100 rnds at the Ace Hardware not too far from my work. they have great deals on ammo. I can get 50rnds of Winchester hollow point for 14.99. Or, if they're out of that, they have Winch. fmj or PMC for the same price. I've haven't bought ammo from Walmart, but hear they have great deals on ammo

great and welcome to the club just be sure to keep that permit with you when you carry......i proud of you too for taking the steps to get it
i'm still waiting on mine here in florida i applied early may but it can take up to 90 days from time they get the application
in the meantime i'm learning about guns handling cleaning effectively drawing shooting and ways to carry so by time i get mine i'll be confident and comfortable having a loaded gun on my person.......
today i'm wearing my holstered gun i borrowed a tuck type holster and belt which works with my gun and i'm practicing drawing and aiming around the house today and amazed it's not as uncomfortable as i thought it would be took a while to figure out where to put it but i'm down with 330 position at a fbi cant ...
i had a gun for years i just never carried it on my person but i'm glad i decided to finally do more than just leave it under the bed in case someone came in my house in the nighttime that may want to harm......
practice and be safe

Congrats to you but I have a question. It took 2 months to get your permit? My wife and I got ours about 2 weeks after I turned the paperwork in. I don't think I've ever heard of Arizona taking that long before. Strange.

Congratulations!! You are going to have more responsibilities but it is worth it! Its your right!!

Congratulations!
Stay safe out there.

Congratulations. Mind if I ask when you mailed off the packet? I mailed mine to DPS Mar 19 and am still waiting. I assume if I had done something wrong, I would have received it back by now, so maybe no news is actually good news. But to be honest, this is getting a little old. Thanks for any reply:confused::confused:

Congrats...why does it take so long? Iowa only takes a max of 30 days...usually receive it within 2 weeks, am assuming each state has different waiting periods. Expect mine within the next week...again, congratulations.

they told us in the class it could take up to 60 days. It took just under that. Back log I guess. Thanks all for welcoming me. Been lurking here since right before I took the class. Finally had something to post!

I took the class Sat. Mar 3rd and mailed it the same day. It came in Sat the May 26th, but I was on my motorcycle in Monument Valley so didn't get it until Monday night when I picked up the mail. Dang guess it took almost 3months!

I too live in Arizona and I just got my CCW permit about 3 weeks ago. It took about 6 weeks or so to get it in the mail. I am thrilled to have it. Congratulations to you.

prolly not going to shoot off a thousand rounds before i get it but at this point i'm doing dry practice drawing and aiming at home and getting used to carrying it in a holster and belt i borrowed so step by step
but i'm going to go to practice live draw at the range and see if i have one in the chamber and take out the mag would it shoot the one in the chamber anyway just weird stuff like that i need to know about my gun but i think by time i get the permit i should be good to go

Hi... I would guess they have a pretty big work load right now. Obama is scaring everyone, and the national reciprocity law is pending in Congress. That's what got me moving on it, even though I live in CA where I can't get a permit. Want a laugh?--- I applied in CA in Feb last year, and was told I would hear back in "about a year". After that time went by I was denied, saying I don't have a good reason that distinguishes me from an "ordinary citizen". There are so many things wrong with that, I don't know where to start.... :-)

I have a serious question, audionutmike. Do you equate getting your CCW permit with exercising your 2nd Amendment rights? Paying a tax to obtain a license in order to engage in an activity is not exercising a right, it is submitting to the state. The founding fathers of this country had that very same problem which is exactly why they overthrew their government by force.

Do I have a CPL? Yes. Do I claim I am exercising any rights in holding the CPL? No. I am submitting to the state by having my CPL.
