filling square deal

Looking to buy the square deal in 9mm used.

I've been using the Dillon Square Deal "B" to reload 9mm and .45ACP for three years. It's been a thoroughly reliable machine, however, I bought it new from Dillon. If you're buying your machine used, you'll want to be sure that it wasn't abused, how old is it(?), have any frame cracks(?), etc. Dillon has great customer relations and will probably fix most defects for free (except for shipping to them). Hope this helps. Happy reloading.

You won't be sorry buying it new. My 550B is 30 years old and it is still like new after thousands and thousands of rounds through it. And...if anything breaks, Dillon will gladly replace it, usually without charge. I recently had a bushing break, and a phone call had a COMPLETE new part in my hands in a few days, with the bushing only a tiny part of the assembly! A word of advice - don't scrimp on dies from other manufacturers. Pay the extra few $ and get quality Dillon carbide dies - you'll be thankful you did. Just perform routine maintenance on the reloader and it will last you a lifetime. I load 380, 9mm, 38Sp, 44 Mag, 45 ACP, 45 Colt & 223 all on the one press.

I have a Square Deal B that is about 20 years old. I have loaded 9mm, 38 spcl, 357, 44 mag, 45 auto and 45 LC. It is a great machine and customer service ar Dillon is superbm second to none. Buy a new one and never look back.

I shopped for a used SDB for a couple months last summer/fall. Everything I found was either incomplete or priced close to new. I bought new from brianenos.com. I can load 400/hour. I've made 3300 rounds without serious complications. The brianenos.com forum is an invaluable reloaders resource.

One last point....I went to reload some 45 auto last Sunday and when changing over primer feed tubes, I noticed that the plastic feed tip was mangled and would not feed properly. Problem was my fault. I called Dillon Monday morning explaining what I needed. Thursday, I received the part in the mail, no charge! I don't think other companies will do that for thier products and that is a major reason I love the Dillon product.

Reading my fellow Dillon owner’s post, I just have to jump in. I broke the small, plastic primer tube top piece, the one that puts the next primer down, it was my fault and I called Dillon who shipped a new one the next day. No charge to me for my carelessness. The folks there will not rush a customer thru the phone call and will certainly chat about ones experiences with the machine or the Hired Help in D.C. Having an RCBS and Lee press I still use for simple rifle rounds but the hungry 1911’s and .40’s are no problem to keep fed with the 550. As with most of our pets, we have our favorites. Folks I shoot with use a wide variety of presses. Some of us are Glock fans and some Sig. That is the wonderful thing about our beloved Country is it not? Choice. Safe shooten brothers and sisters.

I have had my Dillion 550B for a year. The machine is great. I was going to get the Square Deal but for only a few bucks more I decided to get the 550B. Dillon customer service is great. My total start up costs were about a grand. I only reload .40 at this time and love making my own ammunition for the pistol (USAPA) matches. I am currently using Titegroup powder and my Glock 35 feels like I am shooting 9mm out of it. Making my own ammunition for matches has really made a difference in my time and scores during the matches.

Take your time. Make sure you do not double charge a case because you will trash your gun. Also get a cronograph so you can test the rounds you make. If you have any questions just ask me.

As u can see all set up!! Just reloaded my first 20 rounds. All went well, took my time. Checked powder after every three rounds and it stayed right on. Wish primers didn't feed if no round there. Going to the range first thing in the morning to test fire.

Outstanding, I see your reloading space in uncluttered, no TV, no refrigerator to store the “Cold-Guys” to impair your judgment or to drip into empty cases and no ashtray for butts. Starting out with no bad habits that an old man like me allowed to carelessly creep in only to bite me in the butt. Now, make sure the cell phone is off, the land-line is off and the do not discharge signs are in place. I personally, now, check every 50 rounds to ensure I have the powder correctly dropping in. I would still love to have the 5.56’s as easily reloaded as the straight walled ones, but that is the price I pay for the price I pay, no?

Went awesome at the range!! Still have eyesight and all my digits, lol. Appreciate all the insight and support.
