On the radio today they reported that the FBI reported that background checks droped in jan.by 10%and stated that sales of guns were declining! They didin say a thing about JUST MAYBE it had something to do with everyone being sold out:confused:

I was going to suggest that perhaps it is Barrys economy. Just started to see some ammo in my area. Guess I can give up on seeing the new sr1911 in the commander modell any time soon

The gun stores here seem to be calming down a little. Not sure if it's because people are just assuming that there is nothing there, or if the people who were panic buying have found what they were looking for. I still have several things that I would like to have, but it's not emergent.

I have been buying up reloading stuff though. Concentrating more on having a long term supply of ammo for what I have than buying up more guns.

By the way. Anybody have any primers that they want to get rid of? haha

Does that qualify for a great big DUH? Most of the guns that would have been bought over the next 6 months have been purchased.

Combination of things. Everyone and their mother (including my mother) is buying a handgun for self protection and trying to buy up 300 or so rounds and think they have enough for any situation. I chuckle I use to shoot more than than in a range outing with a friend.

Glad to see new people getting into it though, even though its out of panic

Stores dont have many guns to sell, which means fewer background checks.

Background checks wont go up again until the manufacturers can catch up and ship guns to stores.

I heard this reported on FOX this afternoon and the possibility of lack of inventory was brought up as a partial reason for the decline. Since many outlets have "temporarily"' pulled AR's, I believe that also contributed.
I went to a local gun show in December and January locally and the line to get in was as heavy or heavier in January as in December. The show operator in January was on the news and said he thought it was possibly the biggest attendance ever in Topeka for his show. There were some dealers with AR's and they were selling fast as were a lot of other long guns and handguns. Ammo was going fast as you might imagine. I have attended each show over the past 4 months and the number of women who, either alone or with a husband/boyfriend/brother who bought a handgun was a big increase over what I saw in shows last spring. I have a friend who conducts concealed carry classes for state CCL certification and numbers he is training is way up. Same at the local range. So, I agree that I don't think interest is down, even though background checks are down.

After months of record sales that had to happen ... eventually everybody has all he needs AND there's nothing left to buy! ;-)

Aw c'mon guys, you know the real reason for the decline. Our fearless moslem piece of **** is on the right track with gun control and all responsible americans see how right he is and are not purchasing firearms. Just read the paper or listen to MSNBC or CNN--they will tell you--after all they are the media, they wouldn't lie about something like this.

You left off the sarcastic tag again.

Good news is, we are getting our first AR-15 in in 4 months. We asked for 2 but the distributor only got in one. It will sell fast even if it is a Panther/DPMS unit.

Like it's been stated over and over, either everybody is out of stock or out of money. That's okay, wait for the tax returns to come in and people will head back to the shops...

Might be too late by then. Mid-March is the danger time.

I'm surprised that the news didn't follow up their report of background checks being down with "See gun sales are down just at the mention of new laws. Imagine if we actually pass the law. Nobody will buy those awful assault weapons."

I don't read MSM reports anyway. If they print a story, you can bet it's only what they want you to know. Not the whole story! If it's a story about a good guy or gal

with a gun, you'll never hear squat. For example; If a story breaks about a deranged criminal shooting up some school or mall they'll print that but if a good guy/gal

stops that nut, they'll never print that!

And it's the same as the down turn in background checks (if true) you'll never hear about Gun Stores being sold out! Just doesn't fit their agenda.

An armed society, is a polite society.

I hope they get training with their new purchases.

We must be the one of the best armed countries on the planet now. A forced to be afraid of, friend or foe. We all know who our friends are.
