He apparently used the weapon to rob three banks on the east side of Michigan, netting him around $15K. He then posted photos of himself and his uzi on his FB page (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...764.1073741826.100007704189466&type=1&theater), noting that he was able to buy his first house and a chopper.

His description matched surveillance camera footage from the banks, and police staked out his house. He was detained by police during a traffic stop, during which his uzi was found in a duffle bag. He confessed to all three bank robberies.

Somehow, I doubt he went through legal channels to obtain what the FBI , according to their court affidavit, listed as an SMG.

As a side note, if Moms Demand, MAIG, and Brady had been successful in forcing FB to ban all firearms related posts, how much longer might it have taken for law enforcement to catch up with this and other punks who bragged about their crimes and posted photos of the firearms they used in the commission of those crimes?

So how come a guy known to be armed and dangerous, they nab him at a "traffic stop". But the alleged white collar criminal gets his door bashed in at oh-dark-early by a 12 man SWAT team?

Because both are about surprise.

It is about surprise but I think it is more than that. Yes both are a surprise but why the different tactics. The White collar guy is likely to have a more regular schedule and routine and taking him at a traffic stop would make a lot more sense than kicking in his door. If you know the guy leaves for work at 7am every morning it doesn't take a genius to come up with a plan to arrest they guy Monday thru Friday at 7:15am. The white collar guy is far less likely to have any reason to get into a shoot out with the cops. The cops get to play dress up in all their bad ass super cool gear (much like my 7 year old pretends to do while playing) and kick down a door of someone they are fairly certain will not fire at them. All glory and none of the risk.

The armed and dangerous guy might start firing live rounds at them as soon as they come through the door.
