I went to family dollar today and was open carrying . Some little kid saw my gun and he said daddy daddy he has a gun . The guy thanked me for carrying and said more people should be carrying after the Colorado shooting. It made me feel good and that more people are for this now

i don't like the family dollar stores they charge way too much for their reading glasses........but i bought two pair while there anyways because then i didn't know the other dollar stores still have theirs at a dollar a pair

Whoa, wait a minute. Did you post this in the concealed carry section just to taunt the concealed carry crowd? You obviously are not open carrying properly. If you were open carrying properly everyone knows you are going to become a target and some common street thug or gang member is going to grab your gun and probably shoot you with it. If you were open carrying properly, there should have been a robber burst through the door of the store and shoot you first. If you were open carrying properly the soccer moms should have all run out of the store in terror and the store manager should have called the police, who would throw you on the ground at gun point, if they didn't shoot you first, and grab your gun and your ID and check you for warrants and run your gun's serial number. I mean really...that's what happens when you open carry properly, right?

99% of my encounters while open carrying have been very similar to yours, so I must not be doing it properly either!

Must have been the wrong section . I get a is that a real gun ? 99 percent of the time . This was the first time someone said anything positive . And another someone asked me about classes to conceal carry .

I myself wouldn't open carry like NavyLCDR said "everyone knows you are going to become a target and some common street thug or gang member is going to grab your gun and probably shoot you with it" thats the main reason not to open carry, the whole reason to carry is to do it concealed. You don't want to advertise you've got a gun at any time what so ever, it just causes problems you really don't need one way or another. If a person who's going to do something wrong and he see's you open carring, who do you think he's going to go against first, the clerk or someone who might cause him a problem when he holds up the store?

Like I said I am a "don't ask don't tell" guy. I am thankful though that there are people that open carry. A right not used will soon disappear.
