Fall & Winter vegetable planting...

Nice, but here in the Lake effect Snow area of Western New York all I can grow in the winter is tired of plowing the driveway.

Have you ever looked into greenhousing? Even small window plants can give you a supplement, as well as practice for your "green thumb" for when Spring/Summer arrive.

Actually, I am trying to sort a "greenhouse", some trees this winter. I have Magnolia seed, Hickory Nut, and some Oriental Oak as well as some beautiful southern pine that I am going to try and propagate over the winter, some have to freeze first etc.
I planted heirloom tomatoes and I plow them under in the fall. THey come back in the spring. But I still plant a few hybrids (big boys)
Put in some beets in the back for the deer this winter, may have waited to long though.
They are talking about the first winter storm on Tuesday. But usually when you have that much lead time, nothing much happens.
It is when they say chance of flurries when you get slapped up side the head.
Beware of police helicopters hovering over your house if you are using grow lights. They may think you are a pothead.

We've got carrots, beets, and miners lettuce and kale up and growing in an 8x10 greenhouse. More of the same roots are still in the ground outside. I'm on the east side of the state, so the weather will cooperate a bit longer here. It's about 78 in the greenhouse now. 61 outside.
