1. Mag failure.
2. Clearing a jam.
3. Accidentally hit the mag release.
4. Multiple assailients.

Potential magazine failure? Over forty years of shooting I've never had one.
Lets hear it for the "what ifs". How about a double "what if"--- malfunction and a hoard of zombies. How about a triple 'what if"--a malfunction, a hoard of zombies and another malfunction in the middle of the fire fight.
Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.
In that scenario, I would already have my Sword out and swinging!!
What happens if your only mag malfunctions?
What if they both do?!

Ok why not ten magazines then? If two is good, ten must be great then!
Bottom line, each person makes their own threat assessment and makes their own evaluation of what is required to be prepared.

I have 16 rounds to stop a threat. Do I really need to carry more? My plan was always to stop the threat long enough to get away and call the police. I'm a scaredy cat, ok. Staying and dying is not my first choice.
When I was in the military and we did parachute jumps, I always had a reserve chute.
And one time I needed it. Sure was glad I had it.
