EVERY LAW ABIDING ADULT USA CITIZEN SHOULD TRAIN WITH AND OWN A .223 RIFLE..!!!
Upon reviewing the 1986 miami fl shootout and then the 1997 north hollywood bank of america botched bank robbery shootout this is the only conclusion that makes any damn sense.

cops are not everywhere all the time nor should they be however law abiding adult citizens usually are everywhere whether inside their home, their business their car or wherever, when situations like those two occur, then law abiding citizens trained and with immediate access to hi powered rifles would be right there ready to stop the threat.

All these gun bans and mess that tries to discourage law abiding citizens from owning these weapons only keeps them out of the good guys hands. The bad guys like the ones in these two situations would have them no matter banned or not.

If you are not familiar with those two incidents, research them then imagine how much quicker those situations would have been over had the cops not had to wait around for police backup just to have the right weapons available to be effective in stopping the threat as quickly as possible.

Hell, those guys may not had even attempted that messs had they even thought that they would be facing .223 rounds from trained good guy citizens from any given residence building etc.

Eh... as long as you have something, it really doesn't matter. The point I believe is, that you will probably need it.

Here's a truism that really fits Resist's comment - "Ignorance can be cured but you just can't fix stupid."

Re: Every law

That's crap. They should train with a 5.56. They should just shoot the cheaper 223 to save money.

A carbine (long gun), shotgun and handgun should be in everyone's self defense bucket. They all have purpose and intended use.

Are you nucking futs? Lets just sling over our shoulder when we are out and about!!

dude save the sarcasm and go study the 1997 north hollywood situation

I'm not saying sling em on the shoulder just have them accessable in home in work building and train with em. during the 1997 north hollywood shootout . citizens were all around start to finish in the cover of surrounding buildings watching leo's with pistols and shotguns miss shots or hit and not stop the threats getting hit while they (cops) in the north hollywood shooting had to wait 30 + minutes for 5.56/.223 rifles and operators to arrive.

that one went on for around 45 minutes the two bank robbers just walking down the street and spraying with ak's , while the officers tried their best with their pistols .

What holster do you use for that .223 for concealed carry? I am looking for a holster for my Vepr 12 and whoever makes the .223 holster may have one I can use. I have researched various pants pockets for ease of draw and concealment, but just have not found anything for the 12 gauge.

Not a bad idea. I just returned from gun-shopping with a friend who is new to shooting and has never owned a gun. He bought a nice Remington R1 1911. He does not want to carry at this point, bought the gun for protection. However I am trying to convince him to obtain his Concealed Pistol License, "just in case." I think he will as he becomes more comfortable with shooting.

After all is said and done, I will stick with my .30-06. It has been proven to be a good round for many years and will do what I would want it for!

I use a Spike's Tactile 22lr conversion for my AR when I want to shoot on the cheap. There is no disputing that an AR would serve as a first rate battle rifle. Just be sure you know how to clean and service it to keep it operating smoothly and it should serve you well. Have spare parts on hand like rings and extra firing pins.

My 7.62X39 laughs at your little .223

Just kidding, train with and use what you like.
My 7.62X54R laughs at your 7.62X39. So does the 9mm carbine and 1903A3 in .270 Win. But yep, buy what you like and will use if needed.

My A10 Warthog laughs at your 7.62X54R.

It was a pain finding a concealed holster for the A10 and I get so tired of everyone asking, "Is that a warthog in your pants or are you just happy to see me".

That is one plain ugly plane. But I would love to have one. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp. Also would like to have an AC-130 just for fun.

At first I was wondering where all these sarcastic comments were coming from and why the comments did not even relate to the actual thread then I realized people have a habit of only reading a thread title or the lastest comment and not the actual orignal 1st post.
