Evacuation list

Do any of you who live in a potential forest fire location have a prioritized list of things to get into your car and leave on a short notice?
What I'd like are lists of things to take based on how much time I have to get away?
My house has a steel roof.

15 minutes notice, 30 minutes notice, one hour notice, etc.

It's just my wife and me.

You normally have plenty of warning if a forest fire is approaching.

The main problem in the past has been with people in denial and ignoring the warning when it comes.

Where I live near a major bay and wetlands, the most serious issue would be flooding or a tidal wave.

When the May 2011 tsunami (Japanese, means tidal wave) was on its way to coastal California, I took it serously and got everything ready to go.

As that turned out, only Santa Cruz was battered. No place else. And only the Santa Cruz Harbor.

But better to be vigilant than in denial.

The best case for vigilance was the Minutemen of Boston in 1775. This was militia vigilance however.

The worst case of denial was the lack of appropriate reaction in response to the Nazi's in 1938. This was social denial however.

But ignoring tsunami warnings and hurricane watches and forest fire alerts is basically borne of the same mentality: that this could not happen to me.
