Erie County concealed carry letter for employment

Intro: I'm Zac, from WNY area moved all over God's green earth, and now i'm back in B-lo. Had my CT resident which is about to expire (5yrs) here in May. I should have surrendered it when i left, but just got rid of my handgun (G19) and got a M590A1 for "home use"

Now I'm finally looking to get into the application process for Erie county. Done plenty of reading and plenty of research on the topic so not many noob questions as the 18 page thread covers just about everything.

My question involves a letter from my "employer" requesting permission to carry. My friend filed a DBA for me under his LLC and I work under his shop roof and insurance umbrella on exotic cars. I handle large sums of money for deposit for his business as i help him out quite a bit and move around a lot of high end cars. Does anyone have any suggestions for dos and don'ts of writing a letter asking for a full carry permit vs. a work hours permit? I move cars at all hours of the day and all days of the week, pick up from work and homes of customers and regularly have one of their vehicles at my place of residence.

Thanks everyone for any advice you can offer on the subject. And feel free to call me a noob if i missed it while searching b/c it's very possible, just point and laugh and please include a link.

Take care
-Zac

Spam16v,

Judge M.William Boller very Seldom Issues Full Carry. Especially if you are just applying for your Pistol Permit. Its Extremely hard to get Unrestricted in Erie County. Allot of guys I know have filled out the Upgrade Request only to be Denied by Judge Boller. And, all the denial letters say the same thing. that the Applicant has not shown just cause under New York State Penal Law 400.01 with regaurds to Carrying Concealed. I wish I could give you an better answer But, its tough in Erie County. I first Received my Target/Hunting permit in 2000 I applied for Upgrade in 2002 for Unrestricted using the same reason you Stated carrying large sums of cash So on, So on and was denied. I again appiled in 2003 using same reason once again denied. It wasnt until 2006 when I reapplied using a completely different approach. I told the Judge that I was an Life Member or the NRA And I took an advanced Pistol Training course showing the judge my Certificate of Completion along with getting my Pennsylvania License To Carry Firearms Permit and, My Florida CCW Because I travel with my employment and in order to remain completely legal under New York State law while Traveling with my Sidearm That I respectfully Request The Restrictions be lifted off my Permit and Finally it was APPROVED. It only took 6 years to get it. I think after you have had your permit for awhile and you show the Judge that you have been responcible and have not got into trouble it goes along way and makes it easier for getting full carry. I wish I could help you more. Good Luck to you. let us know how it turns out for you. keep in mind your in for along wait to get your permit at least an year. thats the average time frame from reading all the post and having a couple friends recently apply. My wife appiled in 2008 and it took a little over 11 months for her to get her hunting/Target permit. Because she works nights as a nurse 11-7 shift At ECMC She was just approved for her Full Carry Unrestricted Permit in February 2010 Well Take Care,Until Then Dont Forget to keep us posted on your Process especially if you get Unrestricted right off the bat....

just the kind of experience and info i needed, I will obtain as much training and membership as i can before I waste a year waiting and wondering. I have a CT permit that counts towards nothing from what I've heard. So begins some more research on local training, anyone know who will accept an out of state permit so I can partake?

Full Carry

I got it because of extensive military training in two branches of the military. One of which I carried a side arm all of the time. This had to be proven. Also my parents are older and have property in a tough part of the city which needs to be maintained. There have been many murders in that part in the past 20-25 years. Some innocent people like my parents who had to leave the area years ago. I hope I never have to use it.I repeat I hope I never have to use it. I understand when the judge denies it for inexperienced new permit holders because there are many accidents with new gun owners and why one has a gun trails to the judge. If I was a judge I would be very cautious on CCW. I would need evidence of extensive experince and training. I have seen those with high amounts of training make very dumb mistakes. When I got it years ago I had a basic pistol class. I think an extensive class similar to what the armed guard take would be great for everyone who wants CCW.

Judge Boller is a very difficult judge to obtain your full carry permit from. I submitted certificates for all of the courses that I have taken as well as copies of my Florida and New Hampshire CCWs and I was still denied. Now I have the assistance of a friend who is a prominent attorney in Erie county. We will have a hearing with Judge Boller's law clerk and/or Judge Boller. Hopefully with the assistance of an attorney I will be able to obtain my full carry.

WOW..what a pain in the A** ! Sorry to hear you guys have to go through this much crap to get a CCW :fie:

We have room in Idaho for like-minded individuals :pleasantry:
