Gun Bans, Entitlements & Amnesty? Not the uber conservative he has been made out to be...

Gun Ban Ronald Reagan was just another RINO that trampled the Constitution & the Second Amendment, as a California Governor and as President and backed 100% of the Brady Bunch Anti-Second Amendment Initiatives during & following his Presidency...

Enough of the Praise and statements such as "I am a Ronald Reagan Conservative", which has gotta be the biggest stinking oxymoron I have ever heard...
Got a email the other day from some misguided Republican organization wanting to rename a Mountain to Mt. Reagan !

I damm near blew a gasket!

NO WE DO NOT NEED SOMEBODY LIKE RONALD REAGAN AGAIN!

No amount of good can make up for one-single unconstitutional act, including but not limited to Second Amendment Infringements...

The Unabridged Second Amendment IS the Defining Issue above ALL ISSUES!

I can see the angry mobs with pitch forks forming down the street.

RR was an actor. He could read the teleprompter better then BHO can.

Do you think RR wrote those inspiring words? Rumor has it during RR's last year or two in office, Nancy was calling the shots. RR was having difficulity remembering where all the bathrooms were in the white house.

I'll agree with that..

He signed the Firearm Owners Protection Act which was mostly good but contained the Hughes Amendment.
He blackmailed all state to withhold federal highway funding if they didn't change the drinking age to 21. :cray:
Bailed out Social Security and Medicare by increasing taxes:angry:
He tripled the national debt, contributed to the S&L failure and bailout:hang3:

BUT
He did keep the Democratic Congress in Check
He did shrink the size of government
Bombed Libya and tried to bomb Muammar Kaddafi
Rescued and won the battle over Grenada

--Iran - Contra -- ??

AND

He was a better choice than Jimmy Carter or Walter Mondale.:yu:

Right now, short of Hitler and Stalin and Mao and Mussilini, I would take anyone over the shithead in the whitehouse. RR was a breath of fresh air and a saint compared to the shithead in the whitehouse. Kindly appreciate my unbounded animosity and outright rage over the current DC inhabitant--I will never refer to him as my president, not do I consider him that, nor do I consider him good enough to clean my toilet. Another chance to vent--feels good.

Hmm, let's take a look at some of Ronald Reagons views on gun control:

While he did sign the seven day waiting period into law, that's about all he did against guns. Remember this was a man that had an assassination attempt against him and he still stood in favor of law abiding citizens owning guns. It wasn't until Clinton took office that the assault weapons ban came into law.

Like the current charismatic orator in chief, Reagan talked the talk, but his actions showed us his true convictions...

YES LETS DO LOOK AT GUN BAN RONALD REAGAN'S VIEWS ON GUN CONTROL & ACTUAL RECORD ON GUN CONTROL!!!

It was Governor Ronald Reagan of California who signed the Mulford Act in 1967, "prohibiting the carrying of firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." The law was aimed at stopping the Black Panthers, but affected all gun owners.

In 1986 Ronald Reagan signed the (NRA BACKED) so-called Firearm Owners Protection Act; which contained the first (Federal) de facto Gun Ban By Law-Abiding Private Citizens in U.S. History! AKA: Hughes Amendment - 18 USC 922(o)

Twenty-four years later after the Mulford Act of 1967, Reagan was still pushing gun control. "I support the (NRA BACKED) Brady Bill," he said in a March 28, 1991 speech, "and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay."

There is a reason why during the Reagan years there was the "REAGAN DEMOCRATS" coalition...
Moreover, why the biggest sitting RINO in Congress John "Juan" McCain states "I am a Ronald Reagan Conservative"

Ronald Reagan was a Constitution Trampling Anti-Second Amendment Gun Banning RINO as a California Governor & as a sitting & ex-President...

No Amount of good can wash away one single unconstitutional act or endorsement or support thereof...

The full auto ban was snuck in at the last minute. It was too late to stop.

The whole state was aghast when the black-thugs pulled the armed in the capitol stunt. Sort of like the sociopathic-attention-whoring idiot bringing the AR into the restaurant. Probably a less stringent measure would have been appropriate but again, open carry was relatively rare at that time and it affected few people.

Without any doubt, this country was far better during the Reagan era than any time since.

EVER HEAR OF A VETO?

Ronald Reagan was personally responsible for violating the Constitution & the Second Amendment, NOTHING ELSE HE DID BEFORE OR AFTER CAN GIVE HIM A FREE PASS...

Reagan WAS THE LAST STOP, The NRA & the Entire Second Amendment Community was up in arms about it BEFORE REAGAN SIGNED IT, the NRA ran TV ad's for Christ sake; I was deployed when it happened and I had time to hear about; snail-mail & get a snail-mail response from both my U.S. Senators & Representative and SOMEBODY on Reagan's behalf BEFORE Ronald Reagan signed it...

Open Carry & Concealed Carry has been legal in this country since at least the ratification of the Second Amendment...
Which was the re-affirmation & protection of a preexisting right we were born with...

Society has been conditioned to be appalled, frightened and to generally get their panties in a bunch and ridicule somebody when they see any firearm or weapon in public...

This we must overcome, because we are COMMON-SENSE FIREARM/WEAPON Legislating ourselves out of our inherent, fundamental right to defend ourselves by any means necessary, using equal or greater force than may be brought against us, any place, any time, including but not limited to the tyranny of our own government...

IF more people were open carrying or concealed carrying any type or class of firearm, or weapon there would be a whole lot less violent crime...

Where in the Second Amendment, does it say shall not be infringed "Except"... ?
Nowhere, because it is unconditional...

"The Second Amendment IS my Concealed Carry (and Open Carry) Permit" - Ted Nugent...

"It is every citizens duty to at all times be armed, and to be trained at as early an age as possible to use said armament" - Thomas Jefferson

"Let your firearm be your constant companion" - Thomas Jefferson.

Hey Bohemian: Tell us who you did or do like as President. If your answer is the shithead in the whitehouse, kindly do not answer, I hate to have this fine forum sullied with horseshit.

If I remember correctly, Bohemian was a Ron Paul supporter. As for Reagan, he probably did make some mistakes and wasn't as perfectly clear a Conservative as some of us remember. I do believe, however, that he was the first President in a long time . . . and the last one since! . . . who'd given us back our National testicles on both the National and International arenas. Wasn't it under Reagan that Khadaffi's home was bombed, killing both his son and his determination to be an International bastard?

I'll concede that I would have had him vote differently on those items you point out, Bo. But, tell me...who was better? Who was the better choice at that time, and who would you elect if you had the chance? Who else brought to the Oval Office table the no-bullshit personality that made so many Conservative Americans feel their depth of pride again? I agree that Ron Paul is certainly vociferous and determined in his Conservatism, but is he also electable? And, if not, who's the second choice, who could get the job done AND could hope to gain the office?

There's a difference between being a "one issue" voter and being a "central issue" voter, and while 2A is enormously important to me and everybody else here...including you...I'm not so sure that it's ALL important.

Your turn...

I've been given National testicles? Now there's a visual. :sarcastic:
Might this have been phrased a bit differently?

And may I say that they look lovely on you!

I know you understand that 'testicles', in this context, is a euphemism not a physiological description. You and I both know women with "balls", meant in a context of admiration for it. I was saying the same thing, gender-neutral, but trying to be a little more delicate.

I know this is a gun forum, but on the same subject..
Just ask an Air traffic controller or someone that worked at Caterpillar what they think of RR..
Both lost lost of jobs due to actions of RR (I'm sure there were many more examples)

The one good thing I can say about RR's style of leadership is that he surrounded himself with Smart people and he listened to them.. Something I don't think you can say about our last president unfortunately..

Reagan may not have been perfect but he was far better than what we have now or have had science. He was someone our enemies feared. When he drew a line in the sand it didn't keep moving.

Not everyone is as much a pure ideolog as you are!

You judge him in terms of the almighty versus the alternative.

He had lots of things on his plate. He Was NOT elected to restore the RKBA of Jefferson's era, but to recover from jc's destruction of our nation.

Why don't you run for the office on your platform?

Great. I'm reading a gun forum where gun owners are defending members of a government that ignored the Constitution and infringed our rights.

And somebody had the temerity to assign a restoration of vigor to our nation because of those acts.

With friends like you I figure my remaining rights are as good as pissed away...

The OP is right about Ronald Reagan -- and you guys need to quit making excuses for those who allow compromise to dilute the meaning of the Constitution.

It certainly looks as though my avatar isn't a joke after all.
