Found an Enfield No. 4 Mk 1 at a local shop for $299. It appeared to be in pretty good condition, original stock so it shows its age. Bolt functioned smoothly and the hammer drops... overall, it seemed in good working order. However, I don't track the going rate on the Enfields and as much as I hate to admit... I'm not savy on the No. 4 Mk 1 rifle.

What say you who know...? Also, thanks for the info.

I bought it!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a 1943 Royal Navy issue. Went back to they shop yesterday afternoon to look it over more and talk with the shop about what they knew about the rifle. I gave it a detailed look over and function test(again) and said "I'll take it"... took her home for a break down and cleaning, the rifle was actually pretty clean with only some left over crud in the hard to get areas. Magizine loads and feeds well, bolt picks up the rounds like it should... extraction is strong. Overall, I think I made a pretty damn good purchase! I need to get to the range soon and try this warhorse out!

a Savage built Enfield from around 1945 was my first rifle. Shot my first deer with it. I loved that gun, wish I still had it. the only issue I ever had with it was ammo was hard to come by locally.
