My thought is what will be the ballistics IF lead is replaced with another material. It's not that I'm anti lead, it's trying to realize what will come to pass. I've wondered why we use lead anyway. SJHP using a plastic/composite fill? Just wondering.......
"Man I'm so scared of the impact of putting lead bullets into the ground"
These idiots have no clue where lead came from in the first place!
Mined from the ground and put back into the ground by Glock!
Actually the Fox headline has a question mark on it that wasn't copied to the title of this thread, so that aren't claiming the demise of lead bullets. They're asking the question. They talk of the increase in regulations and bans on lead bullets, and they're quite correct about that. Whether or not that spells eventual doom for lead bullets remains to be seen, but the signs aren't looking all that great, hence the question mark. If things keep going as they are, with restrictive regulations and bans increasing in number, will we be looking at the demise of the lead bullet? That's what they're asking, and it's a good question.where the hell do people get this stuff?? let alone it's been debunked on here many time and now fox if writing it today like it's something new. they also leave out the KEY points to it.
Thanks for the education Doc wolf-fire (Bill Nye would be proud). That never dawned on me. My post was a tongue in cheek but still wondered what alternative exist. We use lead because a) it is very dense, b) it is very soft, c) it is very cheap. So it is heavy, malleable and cheap. It will have more inertia when it strikes than other metals, it can be shaped into anything we want and it is cost effective. That's three ways of saying the same things.
Other materials have been used, they are more expensive and don't expand as much since they are not as malleable. Therefore, other materials are not as effective as defensive rounds.
OMG, my ribs are hurting............Thanks and Merry Christmas Rhino!Hmmmm. Cheap, soft, malleable and dense. Sounds like liberals, and they're a dime a dozen. Even the dead ones are useful sometimes. Lots of em are heavy too. Let's use them.

I practice being green by using ammo at times that have a lessor amount of lead. Called a 7.62X54R round made in Russia or the XM855 round made here in the USA. :biggrin:Thanks for the education Doc wolf-fire (Bill Nye would be proud). That never dawned on me. Composites could be lighter and splinter upon impact. I'm just not sure of the possible ballistics and impact. Entrepreneurial spirit comes to mind.

The same back to you and the rest of the membership here.OMG, my ribs are hurting............Thanks and Merry Christmas Rhino!
Howdy NCIC,
Gee, Uranium-238 is mined from the ground so it's safe right?
