Encountered two deputys

Ran into two deputys today at a local convience store . One walked up to me me and stated glad to see you exersising your rights and asked if the weapon I was carrying openly was a springfield. I informed him it was a colt and we shook hands and discussed firearms for several minutes.

Awesome! I have found that as long as you show police officers the proper respect, they usually tend to do the same in return. I had a similar conversation of with a female sheriff's deputy the day that I was recently at the courthouse renewing my tag. I had stopped to ask where to go to apply for my Georgia Carry and she was so pleased to hear that I was getting it and said she would love to see every law abiding citizen getting licensed as long as they would get some training for gun safety.

I have had many, many, many more positive encounters with LEOs than negative. I only remember one negative encounter, in fact. 99% of LEOs are good, hard working people.

This is also very true, in fact the only real concern I have ever woundered about is why some LEOs can't shoot worth a dam, not on the job when there all jacked up but at the range, in a controlled setting ????????????

That policeman was probably doing two things at once. He engaged you in friendly conversation because he supports you, and also in order to gauge your general demeanor and possible nervousness. Your relaxed openness was an indicator to him that you presented no hint of a threat. Good for both of you!
