Electronic Ear Muffs

What experience can be shared good or bad with electronic ear muffs? I do more indoor range shooting then out door. What are your experiences with the different brands? I am looking at purchasing the Peltor Tacticle 6 for 59.99 on sale at Cabelas. They seam to be a all round good hearing Muff indoor and outdoor.

I have a pair of Peltor muffs, and a pair of Howard Leight muffs. The Peltors cost more, but both muffs do a good job of dampening reports at the range, yet allowing for normal conversation. Either should do the job for you. A lower muff profile seems to be in order for shooting some rifles, depending on the comb height of the stock.

I was looking at a the same pair as well as a few other's by that company. I really like the fact that you can hook your com gear into the muffs they also sell a boom mic attachment so you can respond to com's. They are low profile and seem as if they would work well I will let you know when I pick up some.

When I was teaching I always used electronic muffs. I found all I tried were fine. Now that I quit teaching I mostly use standard muffs, as I don't really need the electronic ones.

I wear the electronic ones even if I'm not teaching. They make things easier on my neck by letting me hear folks approaching the range/firing line, rather than having to keep my head on a swivel the entire time.

Iuse the Howard Lieght electronic ear muff, and am really satisfied with them.

I use the Pro Ears 33. Also have the Peltor 7S. For me, the Pro Ears are more quiet on indoor ranges. Both the Pro Ears and Peltor are very large which isn't a problem for me as I shoot pistols only. My challenge has been to get a good seal around the temples to my glasses (or eye protection). Even the smallest gap will defeat the designed noise reduction of the muffs. As a result, I usually wear ear plugs along with the muffs.

I have the Peltor Tactical 6-S and after using them a few times I bought them for 5 other people for Christmas last year. I really like them and use them whenever I go to the indoor range. My friend who I go with most of the time was on the receiving end of my Peltor Christmas presents so its nice being able to talk to each other in the range.

The neat thing about the electronic ones is you can hear small sounds around you yet the muff "clamps" down on all sounds over a certain db level. I agree with Jay above that they don't isolate you from other sounds. If out by myself, I usually use a non-electronic muff, depending on where I am.

Whatever you use, USE THEM! I have constant "crickets" sounding off in my ears from past sound abuse.:nono:

Thanks for all your input. My set of Peltor 6 arrived and shot hundred rounds with them on. Very comfortable I am impressed. I will order another set for my wife. I highly recommend them. I like the fact that the volume can be adjusted. I got the head set type.

Has anyone tried the in the ear style like Walkers game ear? They look like they are higher in price than the over the ear style.
