EBT users abuse generous Walmart to steal goods

This is just a precursor to what these a$$ holes will do when they don't get their free stuff all the time. Just wait until there's a clause that they either have to get a job within one year of the start of receiving their food stamps before the free stuff stops. Just like any normal person that's on unemployment, there are limits for them, so why not the free loaders on welfare?

For several hours, EBT cards stopped showing their balances in parts of Louisiana. Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA took pity on EBT users and announced that they would accept the cards on good faith, so welfare users “could get food to their families.”

What happened next is both Walmarts were jammed packed. Entire shelves were cleared as EBT card holders raced to the stores and filled up carts with anything they could grab.

Walmart began accepting the cards on good faith at 7:00 PM. However, at 9:00 PM the balances started showing again. Immediately a woman was caught trying to “buy” $700 worth of stuff with a balance of $.49. The alleged perp was detained by police who had already arrived to monitor the mob scene.

When loudspeakers announced that EBT balances were showing again, dozens of patrons immediately abandoned their carts. It seems the majority of the the people remaining in line were knowingly trying to defraud Walmart. Both Walmarts were left cluttered with jam packed carts. The EBT card holders were simply trying to get more free stuff at Walmart’s expense.

Perishable items left in the carts were ruined.

Walmart said they decided not to prosecute the woman who caught red handed when the balances turned back on.

The entire incident strongly re-enforces negative stereotypes about welfare users.

As if they need re-enforcing. I hate going to Walmart and seeing people in front of me almost every time I go in there using EBT cards. And anybody that says illegal aliens don't get welfare is full of it.

I would expect nothing less of Wal-Mart shoppers. I just don't do walwart, due to the customer base they have.

I did take my grandson there a couple of months ago, as he needed shoes for band concert. He found a style he like, and there were 4 in his size (mens 9.5) on the shelf. Every damn one of them had old shoes where the fine walwart customer base had put their old shoes in the box.

The Walmarts are not bad everywhere. It depends a lot on the type of people in the community. I never saw what you're describing until the town near me became an illegal alien sanctuary city. It was a mostly upscale town and the Walmart reflected that. Even now, it's uncommon or maybe they're just more skilled at getting the old shoes off the shelves.
Anyway, here's a link to a video of that Walmart and the aftermath. You couldn't walk through the store for all the crammed full shopping carts abandoned in the aisles.

The one by us is not bad... they stock chicken feed, halters for horses and cow supplements. I don't like shopping at Wal-Mart because I don't like their business model, but not much choice around here.

I absolutely HATE shopping there for all kinds of reasons, but the fact is, I can get almost everything I need there and it's cheaper than anywhere else. I get in and out as fast as possible and always carry. It would be the last place I'd go without a gun anymore.
Sounds like yours is part country store or feed store. Right now about the only thing I have to go elsewhere for is horse feed. Wish ours would start stocking that, it gets expensive.

OK, I haven't heard definitively, but some reports I saw indicated that SOME of the EBT cards scanned, BUT did not show a limit and the people went crazy loading up their carts. As soon as they came back online, people left their loaded carts and split. Now what I'm THINKING is that the people (the one lady who charged $700.00, for example) ACTUALLY SCANNED THEIR OWN CARDS! Now THAT is funny! Like the government won't know what she did. Well, at least I HOPE that's the way it worked! 'Course the government probably won't do anything, but still, I think it's funny.
