Grognard Gunny
New member
Over two years ago I applied for membership in the DPRC organization. (They had been actively recruiting at the Greensboro Gun shows for YEARS!)
My wife and I applied, thinking all was well and fine and on the up and up.... only to be told that there was a two year "waiting list". Since I had nowhere else to go nearby to shoot anything larger than pistols.... I was willing to wait.
Since, I have received absolutely NO communications as to application status, nor much of anything else from them in the interum.... I ask; What is it with these people?
Does anyone have any info on these guys? Are they "cherry pickers" when it comes to members? Have they only memberships available to those from the "right side of the tracks"? Or "friends of a friend?"
I only ask because if they are going to act like a bunch of self professed "Elitists", I don't think I want to waste my time with that sort anyway. Or are they so incapable of maintaining a waiting list that they lose track of it from time to time.... which doesn't speak well of their organizational capabilities.
Anyway, for a retired Marine (and ex-Marine wife), with long time small (and not so small) arms training and experience AND "Range Safety Officer" qualification, both Master Degreed individuals of solid upper middle income "class", I find their silence (and maybe, reticence) a bit confusing at best and humiliating at worst.
If I was found "unworthy" for membership by their vaunted "Membership committee", for whatever "reason", the very LEAST they could have done is been up front with me instead of having me cool my heels for two years. (I'm certainly not getting any younger and I still have a very nice AR-15 that has not had a round down the barrell since purchase from lack of a place to shoot it.)
Anyone with input?
