Drawing to protect someone else?

In NC, is it legal to protect/save another person? What if it were a situation where there was no time to call 911, and you were absolutely certain that the victim DID NOT instigate the assault. A witnessed assault, say, where the Vic is getting pummeled to oblivion, or raped, etc. Can I draw and shoot, if necessary?

Most states allow you to protect a life, not just your own. Remember life and death is subjective. Anytime you are faced with a decision you must be ready to accept the consequences of your choice. Carrying comes with a responsibility.

I know in WA you can protect another person, and other states have similar laws (ie: alter ego). Anyone want to look through NC statutes?

You're going to get a lot of answers on the forum some right and some not so right. Everyone seems to have the ability to read the same words and come up with a different interpretation of those same words. But we all mean well!. You may want to consult a lawyer on the subject. But here is a quick search result with a lot of sources fro you to research on.
