Suddenly the boyfriend appears, fully formed, in the middle of the story. Where was he before that?

I like how she "initially cooperated" but only went postal when the decedents (I'm being optimistic by making that plural) "told her to undress". It shows a certain type of character. Give them the property value they were after and let them leave, but when they want to take something that personal, go to guns. However, if I were in her place, I'd go to guns the instant I could, don't even give up property to home invaders, on the assumption that they're gonna try something in the spectrum of rape and/or murder eventually.
