I shoot Plus ammo in my XDs, but I would check the manual if I were you before I would take anyones word on a forum.

When it comes to +P and +P+ I would not consider using it if the manufacture did not sanction it.
If it causes an explosion exiting the chamber and causes damage to property or life, then there is no recourse.
You are already dealing with a combustible product, so knowing your limitation is best.
Safety first

The XDM manual does not say anything positive or negative about +p ammo it just says use ammo of the proper caliber. However from browsing a few threads at XDTalk, seems the answer folks have gotten from emailing springfield is that +p and +p+ are okay for self defense and limited practice, but they don't recommend high volumes of it.

I wish they'd just specify it in their manual, but then most companies probably don't want the liablity. "Oh hey, they said I can have as much pressure in my 9mm as I want!"

Exactly. "Limited practice" is way to subjective and opens them up way to much liability.

Can the XD handle +P? Sure it can... but it will reduce the lifespan of the product, so Springfield says only to do it sparingly... and, if it blows up in your face, they told ya so. You don't need +P anyway, standard pressure 9mm and .45 will do the trick.

Just about any modern gun can run +p or +p+ on a limited basis, it will beat it up a little, but not bad, most manufacturers will not specificly say in there gun can run +p or +p+, if they do say do not run it then dont, it may really cause damage to the gun
