Since the Bill of Rights in 1791, we have evolved into a complex world. 222 years has brought us from a mainly rural, largely homogeneous environment of 5 million people to a largely urban/suburban diversified population of 310 million.

Should there be exceptions to the 2nd Amendment in the society of America today?

All comments, critiques and observations are very much appreciated.
I envision a calm, cool, rational and civil discussion.

At one time I would have supported at least minimal gun control laws.

Now I have ZERO trust in the other side of ANY sort.

Even more so, NOW I have LESS than zero trust in the government. I have as much respect for this current regime as I do for crooked driveway contractors and NAMBLA.

I believe in gun control......... Gun Control in the home...... NOT in the governments hands. Our government is not responsible enough to handle a gun let alone handle our gun rights. This is the reason it "Shall Not Be Infringed". I have spent countless hours and money on "In Home Gun Control" to teach my kids what they are and how to handle them. I have gone above and beyond in training my children how to be responsible and safe with and around guns. Gun control to my family is Training, Knowledge and Practice. it is every adult's responsibility to go the extra mile to teach and train our kids right so they will not be the next mass shooters. And for gods sake Lock your guns up and also if you have someone who is not totally stable, Keep the guns away from them. Just my two cents. Thanks for reading.

We have Supreme Court Justices who believe our Constitution is outdated. We have legislators, who are supposed to do our bidding, trying to erode our rights. We have ONE right that says specifically that it shall not be infringed, and the jackals in the Federal, State, and local governments cannot keep their filthy mitts off of it.

Molon Labe.... I'll be waiting.

Who the hell clicked "yes". :cray::cray::cray:

Update: Now there's five people who are in favor of gun control laws. Who allowed them into the forum. I demand a recount!!!

Update 2: Dammit, now there are 6. Why are the libtards growing on this site?

Absolutely no arms control of any kind!! Criminals will always arm themselves!!

The Second Amendment protects All Rights!!

The world may have changed but people have not. There is still evil in the world; and there are still those who crave power at the cost of other's liberty. There are people who want to steal the money of others in order to buy power for themselves. We are losing our liberties at an ever increasing rate; yet, government is trying to disarm those given the responsibility under the second amendment with protecting the Constitution. It is THE PEOPLE of this country who hold the responsibility. And if the government disarms the people how long do you expect any of our liberties to last? NO COMPROMISE AND NO SURRENDER OF ANY OF OUR GOD GIVEN LIBERTIES.

There are so many different ways people can do evil to each other. Guns are one way to do evil quicker. However no one gets out of this world alive be it from old age, beaten to death with a golf club, stabbed with a pitch fork, boiled in a witches cauldron, or shot with an uzi. The gun makes me equal to the home invaders. It makes my wife and daughter equal to the rapist. If the government cannot control home invaders and rapists they best not try to control my gun. My firearms are not for hunting, they are for protection against anyone I need to protect myself from. Hunting is simply another use for a firearm, but then we have a grocery store right down the street...closer than the deer herds.

I support absolutely NO gun control. Please show me where in the Second Amendment any control is allowed.

I feel the exact same way as you do.
Great mind's think alike!

The fascist's are running amok in our government nowaday's.

Criminals should not have guns, but since no law will stop them, what's the point? Violent, mentally ill people shouldn't have them either, but that will be on their families or the hospital they're in permanently. Basically, any restrictions on the 2nd Amendment will wind up being pointless.

Bad person facts
1. They will always be able to get a gun
2. They don't give a rats ass about any laws including ones about guns
3. Will not hesitate to shoot you just because
4. Will not help anyone but themselves

Good person facts
1. Abides by all laws already in place to obtain a gun and use it.
2. Cares about their fellow man/woman and follows the law.
3. Doesn't carry a gun just to shoot someone, in fact they prefer not to do so.
4. Is more than willing to help another person or protect them

Government Solution = Remove the guns from the law abiding citizens and allow the bad guys to rule. Hmmm, what side is our government on anyway? Makes me sick to think that my 8&9 year old children are more mature that all of Capitol Hill and the Presidency.

Many say that they aren't infringing on your rights so long as you can own some kind of firearm. I like the following analogy of understanding what "shall not be infringed" means:

Let me infringe on your ability to breathe by depriving you of oxygen and lets see if that changes the definition.

The problem is much more than just a 2A issue. This boils down to a fundamental mindset of what life of the individual means in society. If my life is truly mine, then leave me be. I will pay taxes for legitimate functions of government and will endorse government in it's limited role as outlined by the Constitution. Natural rights, it has been said, are equally possessed by all. Part of natural rights means that just because there are more of you than me, you do not have the right to use force against me to compel me to do something that I would not otherwise willingly and voluntarily do or that an individual would not have right to require of me. Under our bicameral legislature, we have lost representation of the States in congress with the popular election of Senators by the public at large. We have seen congressmen of both houses pass legislation that is so convoluted that it cannot be deciphered. Our code of federal regulations is so large that with little effort, evidence of felonious criminal activity can almost be produced at will against any citizen. The leviathan that is government is self serving and all consuming. We have had in the last 15 years rampant militarization of local police forces, expansion of state and local municipalities becoming dependent on the federal teat for funds they are now like drug addicts willing to perform sexual acts for crack. Unfortunately, what we as citizens really are is nothing more than gammon for the maw that is government. We are the "bio-electricty" that fuels the robot overlords of the matrix.
