Do you carry +1/with a full cyclinder?

When you carry, do you carry +1/a full cylinder?

I never go out without first checking to make sure the chamber is populated. When arriving at my destination, before reholstering, I check again to make sure I haven't forgotten. Racking the slide before engaging is for the Mossad, and I'm just some kid's dad nowadays. m:triniti: I've heard some people say that it's unsafe, but I personally believe that when SHTF, I'm going to have just about enough time to point and shoot if I'm lucky. I believe my little girls are too important to be unprepared.

EDIT: While I may be disposed to carry my way, others may do it theirs. Don't be afraid to post why you do, don't or sometimes do. A conversation with the wife spawned my curiosity.

CZ 75 Compact Cocked and Locked at all times. It's at 4 o'clock on my belt when dressed and on the night stand when not. The wife doesn't carry while at home, but she has pistols stashed all over the house. All of them are Cocked & Locked too!! We're a cocked and locked hammer gun family.

ETA: ALL pistols are in holsters all the time!!

My primary and any other weapons I may have is always is loaded and ready to go. RULE # 1...."Treat every weapon as loaded". Is there another way to be ready for any event that may require you to engage in with a weapon??? If it ain't cocked & locked your missing the point. (Of course, that would be I guess you're not fully comfortable with the weapons you have)
TRAINING, training training. AND just when you feel that you're OK with what your training is accomplishing, train some more. This ain't rocket science BUT IT IS a Life & Death training. YOU BE THE JUDGE!

I carried with an empty chamber for about 6 months. After 4 months I felt completely comfortable carrying a weapon and by the end of those 6 months I felt kind of silly for keeping an empty chamber. Once I started carrying with a round chambered I became uncomfortable if there wasn't one loaded. It's all about comfort level and every one of us is different. It would make no sense to load the pipe and keep the weapon at home because you aren't comfortable carrying that way. All of my carry weapons have a manual safety so I practice with those guns by sweeping the safety off as I un-holster the weapon to ensure that the muscle memory is always there. That is my comfort zone but, again, it will be different for everyone. The main thing is, carry comfortably so you always carry.

I had a sticky one this weekend BUT do not really want to expound on. I get so embarrassed...........

There is always one in each one of my five-shooter's chambers. Why would anyone carry an empty chamber on a wheel gun? Same goes in a pistol. Not only the firearm is not ready to rocknroll, but you are one round short!

Why wouldn't you? This seems to pop up about once a month, we should just sticky one that says YES :-)

I searched it and didn't find anything. Maybe I searched the wrong words...
I had a guy tell me that since he carries it concealed that he would likely have time. I didn't give him any what-ifs...

Last week I carried with a half full magazine, but it's because I got ambushed with water balloons...

I always carry +1. In My mind it is senseless to take the extra time, no matter how small a time it is, racking a round into the chamber. Seconds save lives. If I ever have to draw down and defend Me or Mine I don't want to have to waste time when it could give the upper hand to My adversary.

I have read many post about the pros and cons of conceal carry citing the benefit of the element of surprise. Good guys aren't the only ones thinking that way. The bad guys aren't going to advertise themselves and will do their best to incorporate the element of surprise for their benefit. In short, they are going to do their best to minimize the time you have to react. There's a real good chance you will not have time to chamber a round.

I carry the lc9 and have safety on at all times with one in chamber. If i had none chamber and had safety on you cannot lock and load a round when drawing your weapon. Statistics show that by the time you draw weapon, pull back slide, and point and shoot you have been stabbed at least 3 or 4 times. If he/she has a gun then your dead. So yes it cocked and locked at all times and at 4 0'clock.

You'll need to educate me on this one. Where do you put your plus one. The only place I've found is in the chamber.

I believe what he means is +1 means full mag +1 chambered, and chambered means 1 in the pipe but -1 or more in the mag

Edit:
I carry +1

If you are new to concealed carry & you do not yet feel comfortable carrying with a round in the chamber, then carry with an empty chamber until you do feel comfortable. Eventually you will be familiar enough with your firearm and carry equipment that you will be confident in carrying Condition 1.

Correct. Chambered or loaded isn't always +1. +1 is always chambered.

Some people keep their magazine full, load it into the gun and rack it and call it good. So if they ever have to unload their firearm they don't have a loose round somewhere. With full size 9mm holding 16+ rounds, having +1 isn't necessarily needed.
