DIY Custom Sights

Just wondering if anyone has done any DIY customization to their sights? I was thinking of trying to find the highest quality glow-in-the-dark paint and paint my sights with it.
I did, however, just find some high-visibility paint in the basement that belonged to the previous owner of my house. Two little jars (about the size of model paint jars) of Fire Lacquer by Weber. They look really old. Signal Green & Saturn Yellow neither of which had ever been opened. I popped them open, stirred them up and the paint looked brand new. I decided to give it a try on my Ruger SR40c stock sights. Painted the front one green and the back 2 yellow and sealed all three with some of the wife's fingernail sealant. I was able to build up little bubbles of the sealant as to catch more light. I'd say it turned out pretty good. Not sure how well they'll hold up considering I messed up on the rear sights and was able to clear it all away with some acetone. Pretty sure a thorough cleaning after a range session might undo all my hard work. If I like them I suppose I can find a higher quality sealant and make them a little more permanent. I also put some of the yellow on the tip of the normally black striker indicator for better visibility.
Anyone with any experience with this sort of DIY project? Any other DIY projects out there that people have/want to do?
