Division Of Licensing

I was reading the FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE newsletter from July. and ran across this about a new system for doing fingerprint cards. I thought you may be interested...

[
Mr. Bevis noted that the Division is working
on another project to submit paper fingerprint
cards electronically. When fingerprints
are submitted on a paper fingerprint
card, it can take up to 60 days (sometimes
longer) for the Division of Licensing to receive
the results of the criminal history
record check performed by the FDLE and
the FBI. The Division plans to install software
that will read pertinent demographic
information on the application and insert that
information into the electronic file created
from the scanned fingerprint card. The
“electronic” fingerprint card will be sent to
the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
(FDLE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) for processing. The results will

be received in approximately two days. Once
the Division receives those results, the license
can be issued or denied within a matter
of days, saving time not only for the applicant
but for the Division as well.
Mr. Bevis stated the Division is also researching
the possibility of an on-line application
process. The Division plans to begin with
the renewal of the concealed weapon licenses,
realizing, however, that the statute
may need to be revised because of the notarization
requirement.
This concluded Mr. Bevis’ comments

This won't help me speed things up, but it will help some one......

I did my finger prints electronic well over a year ago. Then sent my paper work off, 13 days later my permit arrived. It is faster doing it electronic.

Yes but as it says they will be able to scan the cards and then send them. That will help the boneheads lik me that used the cards....

I recently did my fingerprints electronically for work...the scanner could barely read my prints and most fingers had to be re-tried 5-6 times.

My 3rd renewal comes up next year.....

I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was a good idea! It was just a point of info.. I sent in the card and if anyone ever asked me or I had it to do again I would do it electronically. I took the course and just did it all at once because I didn't know any better at the time. Now I am in my 2nd month of waiting. It took the state 10 days just to sign for recieving my paper work...
