Difference Between States

Sorry dude, you can claim being in the thick of the fight against Federal taxes, but if you pay them you're no less a whore than the rest of us.

Couldn't be bothered to crack open a link, eh?

Oh well, at least you honored my request not to call me a hypocrite again. Of course, "whore" has such an unemotional tone to it, doesn't it though? Pffft. Hypocrite. LOL

Here's the deal. This thread was opened to make people laugh. Period. Two Californians chose to instead get all emotionally invested in lines on a map. You took a jab or two at those lines personally. Boo-friggin'-hoo. Regardless of who, when or why the thread went off the rails, the detour was 100% about one state's issues; California. There is something you can do to starve the beast that is California. Leave. If you can tell me how to avoid participating in feeding the beast that is the .fedgov without leaving my country, I would sincerely appreciate it and set about trying to implement it. In fact, even leaving my country has crossed my mind from time-to-time, so far-gone from their intended meaning have our founding documents devolved. But then you'd call me a "traitor" or some other Catch-22 offensive blather, all because of lines on a map that only have meaning if the state or country they define lives up to the promise of their founding. Which they decidedly don't. And you say I'm overly-emotional? Pffft.

Being a farmer two times removed does nothing to validate your hurt-feelings response to knocks on your state, which themselves are valid with or without family ties to the state. CA's decline and tyrannical government are self-evident to everyone, except apparently, those who can't extricate themselves from a line on a map by simply walking across it. The vast majority of freedoms that you are denied can be rediscovered by simply taking that walk. That was my determination over 20 years ago. I walked. Do whatever you want. Using your "whore" analogy, whores serve their role voluntarily. That would describe you to a "T." Rape victims fight their abusers any way they can, whether it be after a successful rape and they gather the resolve and courage to face their attackers in court, or they fight at the scene of the crime until they're either unconscious or dead. I am in the fight, and refuse to be either a voluntary whore, or allow my country's rape to go unprosecuted.

Your metaphors need some work.

Maybe we continue to live here because it is home. I have lived in CA since 1950. I live in a relatively rural area, however in close proximity to city conveniences. My husband and I are gun owners. We spend at least one day a week at a free outdoor range exercising our 2nd Amendment rights. There is an indoor range at our favorite gun store about 15 minutes away in the rare instance it is to cold or hot to shoot outdoors. Instead of running away, we choose to stay and work towards change in California. It is admittedly a hard fight, but someone' got to do it. It might as well be us.

I see, by your post, you live in Eastern Ohio. Could be another reason we stay in CA, is because, while you were shoveling snow, we were at the range, having fun, shooting our guns in shirtsleeves.

I knew my exchange with chilipeppernorm seemed awfully familiar. Now I remember why. Those are four separate links to an exchange I had with JeanP in October last year. It went a little better than this exchange with chilipeppernorm did, but the same recriminations going both ways were volleyed back and forth and nothing was resolved. Us natives who left CA due entirely to its devolving into the same kind of corrupt, immoral and contemptible leftist stronghold as the .fedgov has, were alleged to have abandoned the "good" fight by migrating towards more freedom, more moral and lawful government, and more economic stability for ourselves on the one hand, while some from other states cheered the guilt-tripping telling us Jean was right, we should go back because we were responsible for creeping liberalism infesting their states! I mean, a freedom-fighter can't win for losing around here! LOL But it's like I said above in reply to chili, if I were to leave this country because of the same reasons I left CA, I'd be called a "traitor" or some other offensive, and wholly untrue, blather, just like Jean intimated we are because we left CA in the first place.

I guess we need a Sticky for this type of thread. It is a never-ending and repetitive argument, awash in circular argument, unvarnished recriminations over peoples' personal decisions and simple lifestyle preferences, in the midst of the world burning down around us all. We as "free" Americans, have devolved to the point that we have to make excuses for either staying in CA, NY, CT, MD, CO (wherever), or make excuses for leaving without being accused of abandoning the fight. Blah blah.

So let's get this back on track. The OP was about a guy in CA whose impressive collection (in numbers anyway since we don't know what makes/models) of guns caused him a bit of heartburn with the local and/or state authorities. To me, this is the kind of story that really should not be joked about, so I am one of the few who didn't "Like" the post. But I certainly didn't (and still don't) fault NCIC105 for trying to tell a joke, I just didn't find it a subject I wanted to try to find humor in. Besides that, the part about Alabama really didn't make a lick of sense to this adopted Alabaman, because I have no idea which Governor or gubernatorial candidate the line might have been referring to. I've not seen or heard of a candidate for Governor who was known for his/her gun collections. The truth of the matter, though rather mundane and un-funny, is that....

In Alabama, he'd be called, "a citizen."

To me, that should be the public-image goal of every state, Hell, every country of the world. But we're all a bit too hung up on lines on a map to let it be that simple. My apologies for participating in furthering and/or fomenting that meme. I guess it boils down to just the fact that even though some subjects are so sad, so infuriating, so immoral and tyrannical in nature, that we try to make jokes about them and laugh to keep from crying. Laugh or cry, we're just 22 posts into this thread, and I can't for the life of me figure out how a couple of light-hearted jabs at CA got us from there to here. We'll need a Sticky and years of posts well into the hundreds to figure that one out, and that my friends, is a joke.

WOW! All I said is, "In my Humble opinion, ANYONE living in California is considered mentally unstable!"

It wasn't really a joke.

It's just my opinion, not a statement of fact. Opinions are like rectums...everyone has one, most stink!

Can't anyone have and express an opinion without someone getting their panties in a bunch?

Apparently not, at least not if that someone can only see as much "truth" as is revealed in lines on a map. I thought you were joking, but meh, what do I care? I don't live in CA, and never will again, and that definitely ain't no joke. LOL

Crazy...... I thought we all were here for the same thing. No matter where one lives. I have thick skin but also have no further comment as it seems unnecessary at this point. Have a good evening my friends..... Harpdude

If you do some research, you will find that you do NOT "have" to pay federal income tax...... Yet this does not mean they wont come after you to try and extort it from you...
