Covington, La. – St. Tammany deputies say a Covington woman fired a shotgun at an intruder in her home.
Deputies say the woman, who lives in the Covington Country Club subdivision, woke up around 1:40 Tuesday morning to find an armed man in her bedroom doorway. Deputies identify the man as Joseph Hall Rogers of Covington.
Rogers allegedly pointed a gun at the woman, who began screaming. Deputies say he then left the bedroom doorway while the woman got a shotgun from her closet.
After checking on her children, deputies say, the woman forced Rogers out of her home. Once at the doorway of her home, they say the woman fired three rounds in Rogers' direction, but he was not hit.
Investigators say they later found Rogers intoxicated. They say he resisted arrest and deputies had to tase him.
Rogers was booked with home invasion and resisting an officer. His bond has not yet been set.
Investigators say they cleared the woman of any possible charges in the incident.

He was still in the house with the kids when she was armed? She should have killed him. What good is a gun if you don't use it? Now he goes to jail for a few years, and when he comes out he knows where she lives... and a lot more about how to commit crimes without being caught. Bad decision, Ma'am.

I've been thinking the same thing while I was reading all the answers to this post. How do you miss with 3 shots from a shotgun?

Hmmm, good question and I guess it's going to be how far was she from the bad guy, from what I understand that a shotgun with hd rounds don't spread out like we think it does. I think that for every yard you are for the target the rounds only spread one inch apart or something like that, so you can miss the bad guy if under all of the excitement and if you're using hd rounds. Now if you are using bird shot, well you might be a little better but if you're not 2 to 5 feet from him all you are going to do is to piss him off.

I dont think the aim was as off as maybe the conviction to take a life. As justifiable as it would have been , maybe they were more hesitant because of that.
