Deployment Question, Current and Former Military

Ok, I am set to deploy with the 1 BN 125IN and Im constantly hearing that our units deployment is getting pushed back. Its Frustrating. We hear our MOB and Deployment is getting pushed back, not sure how long just yet, but its bound to happen.
I know the 125 cant hold a deployment slot for very long without deploying, I was wondering, do any of you know how long a National Guard unit can be "activated" without actually deploying? Ive heard that if we dont deploy within 12 months of our initial activation, we simply get recycled and wait for our slot again in the future, is that true? Im just sick of being told were going, and plan all of these events prior to deployment, and then it gets pushed back again and again...
Wish Big Army didnt treat us like crap, its a total mind F*&$ its emotional to begin with to hear Im leaving my wife for a year, not even a year into being married, and its even worse when youre not sure when youre going at all...No official orders were given to us yet, weve only got the Notification of Sourcing.

Anyways, any information would be helpful. Thanks guys.

hate to tell you this, but it does not just screw around with the nat gaurd....

during our first deployment it was supposed to be a 6 month deployment. at the 6 month mark they told us they did not know when we were going home, and ended up leaving 2.5 months later- apparently we got lost in the system and they only thought they had redeployed us....

we got back from our first deployment and deployed again 4 months later....we got "extended" at the end of our 2nd deployment- after we turned in ammo, were waiting on flghts, and some had already left.....

no issues like that for the 3rd or 4th deployemnt.

but as we sit on GRF 1, we could get the call to go anytime and be gone within 18 hrs notice....just like how we went on our 2nd deployment.....

there is so much you do not see when it comes to the rotations- they typicaly plan everything 2years out. we usually knew when our next deployment was going to be before the current one was over lol. it taked a lot of moving pieces to push you out, and if 1 piece is affected they all are.

ok so just to break the news this happends all the time not just National Guard or support units. You have no say in your Deployment orders. sorry to tell you, but in the armed forces you have no say. You knew it when you signed, you knew it when you finished basic...You should know it now... Waiting on orders is not fun agreed, specially if you ar just married, but remeber as of now you are not getting shot at, eating MREs, taking a dump in a porta potty or digging a hole, or cooking in the summer heat. I would not be so stressed...Enjoy your life while you have it right now. Because when you are deployed it is not a fun period of time.

Just think about it.

Yes, I know that I have no say, Ive been in for a little over 3 years now. I think the big issue with the Big Army is that were moving a whole Battalion instead of a company at a time. Its alot of people to move, I know. I was told by some Brass that typically a National Guard unit can only sit in an "activated slot" for only a year. In a way, I do want to go, its good money, and Im seeing the world, Im doin the 11 Bang Bang stuff I signed on for. At the same time, its frusterating to hear were going on this date for sure, then the next drill, its getting pushed back, but not sure how far. Now with Osama dead, the Big Army is expecting some high intensity stuff, and I guess they dont trust National Guard with being Land Owners.
I dont know.

Hang in there. I know it's tough waiting for something like that.

Try to do what others have suggested--don't think about it (Yeah, right).

Assume it's coming, accept it's coming, and engage as much as possible in the present moment. It's really all you have.

If you're up for a little new age mumbo jumbo, find a place to sit where it's quiet, close your eyes, and focus all your energy on feeling your body. Feel where each part is sitting, feel the air around you, do nothing but feel exactly where you are. Even if it only lasts for a minute, it will give you a sense of calm.
