defensive firearm training

Good day, all. My apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere... I'm new to these forums.

I received my SC CWP last summer. I carry an H&K USP Compact .45 ACP and have a Mossberg 500 12-gauge at home. While I am comfortable with my firearms at the range, I've had no sort of actual tactical training. I'm curious to know if there are any good classes I could take here in SC, especially in the defensive use of my chosen weapons. I live near Columbia, so something local would be ideal, but I'd certainly be willing to travel somewhere else should there be a really good offering within driving distance.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the SC forum. I know there should be some specialized training available in Columbia. I'm sure that someone will come along and give you some leads. In the meantime you might look here. GrassRoots South Carolina CWP Instructors I know it says CWP instructors , however they do list some specialized training.

Belt Training is in upper Dorchester County which is not that far from Columbia. Look them up on internet. He is an excellent instructor who knows his business. He is a deputy sheriff in dorchester county and has a large field near his home for onsite "real" instruction. Tell him Sy Rosenthal recommended him if you contact him. I took my CCWP from him and he is always telling me about his more "real" classes. His wife is a real good cook and lunch is on them.

Definitely check them out, Tommy & Lisa Marie are awesome, I'm a mp and have been in the military almost 7 yrs and I got alot out of their Advanced Carry & Concealment class....it was a awesome refresher and I loved the range portion and the drills we did. He also gives you the opportunity to stay as long as you would like after class and do the drills even more....

The class is only 75$, includes free lunch(we had fried pork chops,rice & tomatoes, and cornbread) and if you shoot good you win prizes ( i won a $30 iwb holster so i figure not including gas or ammo the class probably only cost me like 30$)

Their next Advanced Carry & Concealment Class is Saturday, May 1st...I recommend registering early if your interested their classes fill up super fast

I'll bet the midlands rifle club just a little southwest of Columbia has something going on in the near future. I spend last weekend down there trying to learn to shoot a rifle and there sure was a lot of pistol shooting just one berm over.

Here's a very good one in your area.

However, this is my personal favorite trainer in the state.
The BEST! IMO;

Thanks for all the replies! It would seem I have some very viable options involving very little travel time. I appreciate all the info. I will be looking into each of these recommendations soon.
