Amazing. According to this ad, a gun in the home "... makes me 3 times as likely to be murdered, 3-5 times as likely to commit suicide and 4 times as likely to cause my own accidental death." A gun in the home is going to "… make me… more likely to to commit suicide." Wow. That's some object that has that kind of power over me. Still using those debunked numbers that include gang bangers and druggies. The ad uses 75 photos of kids holding cards to send the gun control message to parents.

I posted the following response on the photographer's youtube page for this video:
Here is how I respond to such statements (this is actually based on a number used frequently by Moms Demand, which states there are 30,000 gun-related deaths in the US each year; there were actually 32,000 in 2012):
60% of those 32,000 deaths are self-inflicted. 34% (8,900 - CDC) are gang-related. Less than 1,000 are accidental, and about 2,200 are non-gang related murders. Watts honestly believes that background checks are going to stop that?
Restricting access to firearms isn't going to stop suicides. Our suicide rate is about the same as Britain's - which severely restricts access to firearms, and the world leader in suicides is Japan, which also severely restricts access to firearms, so the fact that firearms happen to be the tool of choice for suicides in the US is incidental (in Japan the two most popular methods of committing suicide are poison and jumping in front of trains; more than 30,000 Japanese commit suicide each year, http://joi.ito.com/weblog/2002/08/18/paying-for-suic.html).
Background checks aren't going to stop gang-related firearm killings; Rep. Lee from Texas admitted as much when she told the House of Representatives that gang bangers use "trafficked" firearms.
OK, so we have 2,200 non-gang related murders that we can do something about, right?
Wrong.
Most of those weapons were stolen, so, again, background checks will do nothing to reduce that number.
That leaves us with less than 1,000 deaths in a nation of 350,000,000 citizens who own 360,000,000 firearms that we can do something about, and most of those deaths can be chalked up to one thing - failure to practice common sense when using, cleaning, or storing firearms. That is a problem that comes down to personal responsibility and individual lapses in judgement. Again, background checks are going to do nothing to change that.
Long story short, the liberals' premise that background checks will solve all of our perceived problems is hogwash. If Watts is truly concerned about solving this problem, she and the other gun grabbers will instead concentrate their efforts on providing better access to mental health care and solving the gang problem. Solve those two problems, and our "epidemic" of "gun violence" almost completely disappears.

While the post from the guy spewing crap about putting away gays and Jews for the protection of our children was allowed to remain on her page, my objective, fact-based post was deleted.
