Dang it! Got stopped today....

On my way home from work, coming down the hill off a bridge that state troopers like to sit at the bottom of, I got stopped, not paying attention to my speed. Speed limit is 55. Shoulder is fairly wide, so I signaled and pulled over as soon as I saw lights. Turned off the engine and retrieved my driver's license, military ID, insurance and registration. When I saw that she was coming to the passenger window, I rolled it all the way down. When she approached, I handed her my Military ID and Driver's License. She said, "I clocked you at 69, is there any reason you were going so fast?" I said, "No, I am just on my way home" and handed her my registration and insurance. She handed back my insurance card and military ID and went back to her car. She came back a couple minutes later and I was relieved to notice she wasn't carrying anything other than my license and registration. She said, "Well, have a happy birthday a day late." My birthday was yesterday. I said, "Thank you so much, hope you have a good day." And that was that.

No mention about my CPL or firearms by either her or I.

Happy Birthday! Glad it turned out VERY well. I mean no ticket, harassment or anything! That in itself would be better than a cake!

Happy Birthday!

Just out of curiosity, and not looking to start an argument, why did you present her your military identification?

If I remember correctly, some states allow you to have an expired license when you're stationed out of state and can't get back to renew it, so it's still valid with a military ID. Don't know if anything has changed, but that's how it worked for me with my CA license.

It can also help avoid irritating questions if your car is registered with an address in one state and your license is in another. I've never heard of anyone having an issue, but you never know nowadays.

I know some would argue, but the truth is most cops are that way, and I thank them for it, its the power trippers and little Hitlers that cause 90% of the s***, of course I have come to see that age does at times have a factor, as well as having a CCW permit, and you are more likely to get a ticket from a younger officer than a veteran, with the lady LEOs that's a tough guess, it probably just depends on there mood that day, in any case Happy Birthday........

If I remember correctly,

For exactly both reasons telpinaro mentioned:

My Wyoming Driver's License is expired and there is a "restriction" printed on the back that says it remains valid when presented with an active duty military ID card. In addition, I have lived in Washington well beyond the time limit which would normally require me to obtain a WA driver's license on the exception contained in the law for military members maintaining a driver's license from their home of record but I do have Washington registration and insurance.

You must have a defective gun Navy.... You failed to notify and it didnt unholster itself and start blowing them away....

One assumes that since you're in the military (or at least the Navy) and likely work on a federal installation that you weren't carrying any firearms.

When I was in my Nebraska License was in force as long as I was in the Army and out of the state

Do you think the Military ID had something to do with you getting away with an almost 20 miles over speeding ticket?
I ask because back in March you received a warning for speeding and usually they keep those in their system so they know you were "warned" already and give you the ticket.
