Dan Wesson 1911

So I think I have made up my mind on which 1911 I want to buy. After going back and forth between Springfield, Sig and Colt, I decided yesterday on the Colt Combat Elite. Then I happened to fall upon Dan Wesson 1911's. These things are beautiful. No MIM parts, all within very tight tolerances. The slide and frame have no wiggle. It just seems like it is far ahead of the Colt from a workmanship perspective. My limit is $1800 on a new 1911 so this fits perfectly. MSRP is around $1300, which means I can find one for around $1200. That will leave me $600 for another crossbreed and ammo. As much as I love the Colt brand, this Dan Wesson is truly the nicest 1911 for this price point. Has anyone here owned/own one? If so, how do you like it and do you agree with my assessment? Every review and other forum I have been on agree that the Wesson beats out any other manufactured (not custom) 1911 by a long shot.

If I had the cash I would own a Dan Wesson "Valor" (1911 in .40S&W)
I looked at that. And seeing as how I have a crapload of .40, it would be the logical choice. I just can't bear carrying a 1911 in anything other than .45 ACP. That is what 1911's are meant for. I guess I'll have to start collecting 45 ammo. On top of 38, 556, 762, 12 gauge and 40! You know, when I got my first pistol, I swore it would be the only gun I would need or want. I promised myself I wouldn't become one of these guys that has 100 different guns. 10 years later and a whole bunch of money less, here I sit with a bunch of guns and different ammo. It's amazing how fast things can get carried away. What is it about these damned guns??!!??
