Curiosity regarding YOUR concealed carry habits...

I figured I'd ask this on here and see what kind of responses I could get. It would be interesting to see the various uses based on geography, career, and family situation.

*What are YOUR habits for carrying concealed? Do you ALWAYS carry? Most of the time? Or just some of the time? Do you carry more often when you're on the job around unfamiliar places and people, or do you carry more often while off the job (maybe due to employer regulations?)? What about when you're around your family, especially younger children? Does it depend more on where you live? (Include your location if you'd like.) Do you still carry as often (or more) when you're with your family or do you tend to leave your firearm locked and away?

Curious to see what kind of discussion we can get going here.

Thanks in advance for everyone's responses! I look forward to reading about a variety of uses and opinions.

Employer restriction (I am working on that) proscribes carry at work; Carry off the job within my state where lawful (issues with the post office, but it just reduces my use of that service I pay for(!)); Consider carrying while traveling, but it can be tricky and I would rather not run afoul of LEO's trying to do their job.

I carry anytime I am out of bed. All other time it is beside my bed. I leave it in the car when going in the post office. My carry gun is a 9 mm CZ 76 Compact.

I live in NC. I carry all day every day. If I go somewhere it's prohibited, my weapon gets securely locked in my truck. When I'm in bed, it's easily within reach, but safely secure from anyone else! I haven't carried while travelling out of state as I'm not sure of a reliable source to get accurate up to date law information.

When I am in bed it is either under my pillow or on the night stand. When out of bed I carry any where legally allowed, if a store prohibits carry I take my business else where. I then kindly send an email to the store telling them why they lost my business. I don't carry when traveling, because of unreliable up to date law info.

Employer doesn't allow it. I carry everywhere that is allowed and it is kept by my bedside at night. When around family I always have it IWB. Especially around the young kids. That way I always have control of my sidearm when young children are around. Don't carry when out of town. Don't want to ruin my time away through misinformation.

Carry: Wherever it's allowed. Don't go where it isn't allowed.

Travel: Call the Dept of Safety in the states you are going through for information. I have them email the info and record the person's name. It's not that much of a problem for me, we pass through the same states twice a year going between Wi and Az mostly.

Guns: 380 for hot weather, 9mm or 45 when it's colder, 45 by seat and 380 or 9mm when traveling.

Range Time: Weekly, if possible.

I am unable to carry at work unless Im working an armed post. Anywhere else I have a tool (firearm) nearby or on my person.

I carry 100% of the time whether at home or out. On my nightstand when I'm in bed. I switch back and forth between a Springfield XDM .40S&W and a Springfield Range Officer 1911 .45ACP. I use the Safariland ALS level III holsters for both. I am paranoid about retention.

Since you can't schedule when the BG is going to show up it makes sense to me to carry all the time. At home my carry gun, .357 Taurus and home defense gun, Ruger P89 9mm are always within easy access. I'm retired and do a lot of volunteer work, the Taurus is ALWAYS with me unless I need to go into a hospital, mental health facility, courtroom or prison (like this morning). It's locked safely away in the car at those times.
When I travel, they go with me. I check the state government websites for individual state laws for any state I am traveling through. If you're not going to actually carry it with you, why go through the effort and expense of getting the permit in the first place.

Live in a remote area but work prohibits carry. Also work often takes me to courts and jail. No mail delivery so have to pick it up at the post office. So lots of prohibitions in my life. Okay with them. Small town is peaceful. What gunplay there is seems to be between drunken friends. Only know of one road rage incident in 12 years here. Do carry when hiking and when driving out of town - very remote roads. At home they're at hand.

Carry all of the time unless restricted. Weapon is either on my person or within arm's reach. My wife even commented the other day (since I tend to spend a bit of time in the "reading room") that, if anyone ever broke in while I was in the bathroom they would be in for a surprise!

If I'm up and dressed, I'm carrying. WAY to much work to say "Ok, gonna go out, lemme get my gun on" I carry everywhere I go. No purpose to own a gun and not carry it. It's like people who don't wear the seat belt that "ONE" time..... The only time I disarm is when I legally must. I'm in a pro-gun state, so that's almost never.

Been carrying since September 14th. Carry every day every where legally permitted, even to the mail box and dumpster. At home carried around the house in a Ramora holster along with my cell phone. When in bed, in the night stand where I can get it quick. I don't carry in places with signs that meet state requirements but may choose not to give them my business.

I carry wherever and whenever I legally can. I carry a KelTec PF9 in either a Smartcarry or Versa Carry--holster is dependent on what I'm wearing. At home, it's in an Uncle Mike's IWB for easy access. It sits on my nightstand (in the Uncle Mike's) for slumber time.
