CT Bar carry?

In Conneticut is it illegal to carry inside a bar if you are not drinking? I dont drink and i was going to a bar when the guy at the door asked for ID. When i enter public place the frst thing i do is look for a no gun sticker. This place had no sticker. I had lost my driver lisence and didnt relize they would be checking ID iv been here many of times before. I showed him my CCW lisence i was driving and with a group of friends. I dont like to give my CCW ad form of ID but i ha no choice it was that or sit outside in my car. When showing him my concealed permit id ge said "do you have a gun" i lied and said no like i was told in my ccw class to never tell anybody you hve a
Gun on you. He said good cause if you did you would have to leave. Im pretty sure you can carry legally in a bar uf there is no sign and you are not drinking but i needed to ask. Wad i right bybsaying no and still going inside?

Bar carry in CT not prohibited by statute.

However,

29.28(e) The issuance of any permit to carry a pistol or revolver does not thereby authorize the possession or carrying of a pistol or revolver in any premises where the possession or carrying of a pistol or revolver is otherwise prohibited by law or is prohibited by the person who owns or exercises control over such premises.

Sounds to me like a sign isn't required since the bouncer informed you.

don't know about ct but in florida a bar is considered a place of nuisance and illegal to carry in one even concealed although some still do concealed but if they was to get caught that would be revoke of permit and or worse

Actualy he didnt inform me he had said that he threw another man out for showing him his gun. Henwoulda never even made the comment if indidnt show him mu ccw. He sounded like he thinks its illegal to carry in a bar

According to post number 2 it is

Dose anybody else feel scared to defend themselves of being killed or harmed scared of the law will do to you. To be honest sometimes i wonder if carrying is worth it. With all the legal statues they have now. Your better off letting the guy kill you.

What Robiee3006 said in post #7. If the bar sells food then you treat it like a restaurant & you can carry in restaurants. If there is a sign or the employees say no guns allowed, well then turn around & find someplace else to go.

I would bet that if the facility serves alcohol, regardless of whether it considers itself a restaurant or bar, you cannot carry a firearm--at least that is the way it works in SC. It has nothing to do with you drinking or not. I find it very confining and there are movements afoot in SC to have the law changed so that you can carry as long as you do not drink. If there is one time (and I am not a 24/7 CCer) that I would consider CC is that evening out in a restaurant when I go get my car at 10PM as it is parked on a dark street---but I cannot. The problem you can face is if the "what if" actually happens and you now have to answer the question where were you coming from and when you say restaurant/bar, the next question is how come you are CC--you are now in trouble.

You can alsoncarry in bars as long as you dont drink.

Depends on the state you are in. In Iowa, it's not illegal to drink and carry. However, if you get pulled over, blow a .08 or more, you are done. It's a DUI and you lose your permit.

Any private establishment can ask you to leave your hardware behind, because it is THEIR establishment. The fact that the bouncer (acting as an agent of the establishment) told you you weren't allowed to carry could have, at most, landed you with criminal trespassing if they found about it later and certainly would have given them every reason to forcefully make you leave. You are fortunate the bouncer didn't frisk you, which he also had the right to do.

On another side note... do you really want to be going to bars while you are carrying? Let me give you a scenario... you go to a bar, you don't drink, you leave the bar and are confronted with a situation that you must pull your firearm out and discharge. You put the threat down. Do you think that you are free and clear? A good lawyer is going to get several witnesses saying that you just came out of a bar. Can you prove to the court you weren't drinking? Will the police do a breathalyzer test on you? Most likely they won't. Now it's your attorney's burden to prove that you just spent a few hours in a bar and didn't drink. Your only witnesses will be your friends. Their lawyer will ask the jury, isn't it convenient the only ones that can testify on your behalf are your friends.

In my opinion, stupid move on several levels.

As far as whether you are allowed to carry in establishments that serve alcohol, read up on your CT laws. The fact that you are asking AFTER the incident has told me that you have probably never bothered to look up your own laws in the state you live in. A responsible firearm owner reads up on these laws to avoid illegal situations.

I no the laws jackass and he didnt tell me to leave my gun behind he said he had thrown out a customer who pulled his gun out. it is not ILLEGAL to carry in a bar if you are not drinking. Iv known this fact for some time now. No sign at the door. My question was that when he stated he threw somebody out for showing there gun shouldni have left. My buddy who is a cop said to roll with it he didnt tell me to leave and there is no sign
