Credit Union Carry

Here's a good place to start: http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/indiana.pdf

And I can't resist, this is too good to pass up:

Is your cousin a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer), gun store employee or CCW instructor? :sarcastic:

He sure isn't. Just an extreme conservative.

He tried telling me that my 1911 was double action and not single action, and didn't understand what I was talking about when I told him his S&W was Double/Single Action. I don't think he carries his gun though. He didn't want the government to have his prints. He became a casino dealer on the side and they got them anyway, so now I think he's going to get his LTC now.

Great link. Very much appreciated. A lot of good info in there.

Cousin is not any of those. Doesn't even have his LTC last I talked to him. He didn't want the government to have his prints, although he will be getting one soon, because he gave those up to start dealing poker on the side.

He's more of an conservative extremest, and was on a little rant at the time about the government taking all of our rights away. Maybe he said they were talking about it and I misinterpreted what he said.

Carrying into a bank is NOT a crime or against the law, Federal or State Indiana leave that decision up to the business except in certain places which are spelled out in the law. The owner/manager can ask you to leave and you must leave or they can have you arrested for trespassing, that is all. No criminal act. I carry everywhere except where the law specifically states I can't. In today's economy, in some places carrying into a bank you may find yourself in a situation where its needed, just be sure your ready.

not in my cu

Guess it's another reason I live in Alaska! My cu has no sign like that, nor does the building they are in.
Best of the luck to you all, from those of us "frozen chosen".

Federal law only affects federal property and buildings. Banks, generally are not federal property. Federal Reserve banks are, and carrying a weapon into one of those can get you arrested on federal charges. But across the country, I believe there is only a small handful of Federal Reserve banks, so I doubt you'll have to worry about those.

Any other bank or credit union is free to make it's own policy regarding the lawful carry of firearms on it's premises. In general, I don't do business at any bank that would attempt to prohibit me from being able to defend myself on their property.
