The Broward school district in Florida has endorsed what is being called a “groundbreaking” resolution encouraging K-12 students to celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History Month this October, the Sun Sentinel reports.
Begun in 1994 by a Missouri high school teacher, according to the Miami Herald, LGBT History Month has been recognized by a wide variety of adult politicians and public figures for years. However it has not often been celebrated in public school classrooms with young children, possibly because of the fact that the topic is intrinsically sexual in nature.

Here's an idea, don't push your views on me and I won't push mine on you. These holier than thou liberal a-holes make me sick. When they meet resistance dealing with the adults they move to indoctrinate the kids. If my kid came home with this BS I'd be the first one at the school pulling my kid out. What gives them the right to push this crap in a public school.

Exactly right on! Time for the parents of those students to change schools imho.

Another route would be to replace the School Board. They are elected aren't they ? Might be harder to do in larger cities, it shouldn't be to hard in smaller cities and towns. We really need the closer knit, smaller communities to stand up and send this bs packing. I'm sure my son-in-laws would be pulling their kids.

:frown:WHEN are the citizens of this country going to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH? It's time for the people to push back BIG TIME and get the politician's attention. Left or right, very few of the politicians are doing what they were hired to do... be a voice in the government REPRESENTING THE VIEWS OF THE POEPLE! I am almost ready to proclaim my little plot of land here at Poverty Knob an independent sovereignty.

Perhaps this will explain why things like this happens.

Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

Is this outrage over the school board or is it outrage over the LGBT community in general?
Just askin... Ya know?

Both.....

If some folks are okay with their kid's being taught about 'fudgepacking' & 'peterpuffing' in public schools instead of 'reading', 'writing' and 'arithmatic', then what's the point in even debating the issue??

The Republik of California is just as bad, it is mandatory now for all students to study 'gay histroy' and all text books to be redone to suit their needs. So if I were a parent of a school age kid I would have them stay home for that segment of history study. If they get suspended or lose grade because of it there would be one hell of a fight, my kids can't say GOD in school but they HAVE to study gays in history?

I must be more tolerant of alternative lifestyles and choices than most on this board. I see no problem with this at all. I guess I'm somewhat a unique beast though as I'm a fiscally conservative gun carrying pro 2A atheist with liberal views on social issues and the environment. What that really means is I'm rarely if ever in a room full of people who agree with more than 50% of what I think. Voting always sucks as there is never a candidate that even comes close to representing my core values. I end up hating all of them....

So... it's Ok to push people's sexuality on school kids but...

...it's not Ok to mention God or religion in public schools. How is this not the same thing from a different viewpoint.

I fear for the future of this country, and of humanity in general more every day.

If they really want "to promote equality" for all children, then why are we not allowed to have baccalaureate services anymore. Why is it that teachers have been asked to remove their cross jewelry from around their neck because it made the children feel "uncomfortable". They'll take God out of schools, but let the lesbians, gays, and transgenders rejoice. *shakes head*

I'm a democrat. I like and own guns. I love meat. I'm not a homosexual - the only thing I ask is that if you are please don't flaunt it in my face by kissing your partner in front of me. I work hard to provide for my family. I Love God and don't want to silence religion or mention of God. I think the Pledge of Allegiance needs to have God in it. I think our money needs to have God on it. I believe everyone should have access to healthcare. And I believe that Republicans are wrong about wealth redistribution. They believe it should be distributed to the rich. Trickle down doesn't work. If you divide the country into fifths by wealth the top 1/5 have 85 percent of the wealth in this country. The Top 2/5 have 96% of the wealth. The bottom 3/5 have 4.4% of the wealth. Rich people (mostly republicans, believe this is Great but want more) Middle class and Poor people know this distribution is fundamentally WRONG. Trickle up works. Give the money to the middle class and the poor - they will spend it. Since the stores and banks are owned by the rich they will still get the money but the poor and the middle class will have had use of the money along the way. Quit thinking like you are one of the rich people at the top before they steal every cent you have. Republicans love to use love of family and God to suck people in. I don't believe Jesus would approve of the rich having the majority of the wealth. He would say its the responsibility of those with money to help take care of those that don't. IF you really believe in God ask yourself if what the Republicans believe about money really follows what God wants. Finally, I want to say that the USA has the lowest taxes of any country so quit bellyaching about your frickin taxes. Republican Whiner.
