Cpl's

Some interesting stuuf going on here in the detroit area. Some poor guy announces he is carrying his pistol to the cops, they check it out and discover his permit is expired, (even tho' the date is correct on his blue card ), they arrest him, confiscate his car, etc. Then they find out he really was legal and turn him loose. The county says they're really sorry for this guy, and make up excuses why his application fell through the cracks. Trying to boohoo us because they only have one person assigned to doing cpl's. Wish they had $7,000 so they could buy some machine that would be able to handle hundreds of app's per day.
What?????
Guess my question would be, if there are 24,000 current requests for cpl's in wayne county, and we all paid the $105 up front, where is the $$$$$$$ ?????, and why is it taking 5 or 6 months to get a permit???????
I applied in march, and all they'll tell me is " pending " !!!!!

If you are actually in DETROIT, then all the $$$ is probably going into some crooked public servant's pocket to fund their comfy lifestyle while everyone else struggles to put food on the table, make their mortgage payment, and clothe their kids.

I was told mine was going to take 8 weeks minimum, I got mine in like 5. Dunno where all the money goes, but shoot, the only info I got was on a sheet of paper, and a ton of dirty looks when I told them I was turning in my CCW application.
My recommendation would be send your Application through Genesee county. Specifically the Flint court house. It might go faster. Either that or just move up here lol.

I don't actually live in Detroit, western suburbs. But it's still Wayne County. Seems as tho' they have $47,000,000 to buy & renovate the Guardian Building downtown with lavish furniture and such, but the $7,000 it costs to buy a machine to speed up the process isn't in the budget ! According to Channel 7 News, & the county, they have one person hand typing, laminating, & mailing out the blue cards. According to them, last year they processed 18,000 CPL's, & this year they expect 24,000. So at $105 a pop, that's a whole lot of mis-appropriated funds in my oppinion.
Thanks for letting me vent !!!!!!!

I'm in the same situation over here in Kent County MI. Filed the paperwork the 1st business day of March and still waiting. They should have plenty of funds to hire more staff since there's a lot of money coming in for the fees. One more way that we can help the economy by applying for CPL's.

Shall-Issue

Here in NH the law states that you WILL be notified within 20 days of reciept of license app. weather to issue or not, in writeing. If not to issue the reasons are to be listed in that letter. Then you have 30 days to appeal. At witch time the court will hear your case before all others. How much for all this good shall-issue common sense? $10.00. and that is only at issue.

NH. sounds like they have it together. Here in Mi., we have a lot of financial problems, and I really understand all of that. But it seems like they have plenty of $$$ for the stuff they want, but when it comes to law abiding citizens getting their fair share, we get left behind.
According to the web site for Wayne County, my CPL has been approved. But still no blue card. So I guess I just wait some more. I've done without it for 60 years, so what's a few more weeks ! ?

Who is the topofficial in your County? Is it the Sheriff, or a County Judge, or Administrator? Go to them and ask for a copy of the budget, and demand to know where the money went.

He's called the " Chief Executive ", Bob Ficano. According to the news, even tho' we're intitled to all county info, first you must pay a " Fee " to get it. How much double dipping is that ?

Well, I'm afraid I have to cut him some slack on that one. I can see a movement that hates him that would tie up his staff making copies of everything all day long, every day. He could never get any work done. That small fee keeps away the nit-pickers.

If you really want to shake em up - do an open records request, which has to be answered under law.

It would seem to me, and I don't know much, that the law is the law. If there was a part of the law that wasn't being obeyed, I would be all over the inforcement body to get it done. Granted there are states that have money problems. I believe those problems are mostly self inflicted. A discution for another forum. If there are requirments to meet, under the law, and those are met by you, then the state is neglagent in performing their duties. They took your money, you payed a fee for their services to be performed in a timely fassion. Maybe a proactive approch is in order. Certified letter with C.C. to the aproppreate state offices and/or legal athorities may be in order. Go to that office personally that said your licence was approved and pick it up yourself.
The money that the state takes for your Licence is suposed to cover the cost of processing/issueing that licence. Like I said previousely, I don't know much, But when it comes to getting a C.C.L. most are just willing to WAIT for their state to get around to issue. research the law in your state, and then hold them to it.It may not take much to get the law changed if you show how much MONEY a "Shall issue" state makes on the timely issue of C.C.L.'s. Imagine the second ammendment takeing a hit because states will not follow their own laws.
Well that's what I think,,,, But then again, I don't know much!:pleasantry:

If you want to know were the money is going just take a look at that crook you had for mayor. I hate to tell you this, I am sure you may know it anyway, but the political machine in Detroit may run second only to Chicago when it comes to being corrupt.
