Cowboy guns

My grandson would like to try some three gun cowboy action shooting. Sounds good to me too.
So I went to Cabela's the other day & picked up these two beauties. Still looking for a shotgun,
I'm thinking a USSG 20 gauge side by side.
Didn't spend a lot of money, but they look cool, & being 22's, they'll be cheap to shoot.

heritage pistol? If so how do you like it? Gonna buy one for my girlfriend for x-mas[/QUOTE
Yep Rough Rider in 22lr&22mag. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Will be going Tues.
The Henry should be a trip, never shot a lever action.
Will report back soon.

I've never seen 3 gun cowboy action shooting. Is that something new?

SASS is 4 gun, 2 single action revolvers, 1 pistol caliber rifle, and a shotgun, all being manufactured before 1899 or a replica there of.

I have the Rough Rider 22LR/22Mag which I bought from Bass Pro this summer. I shoot it a lot and thoroughly enjoy it! It is easy to handle, is accurate and fun to shoot. Also, it is economical compared to my 9mm and .40 SW semis. It is very easy to switch from the LR to Mag cylinders. I was surprised how much louder and more kick from the Mag ammo though. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to spend the extra $50-60 for the adjustable rear sights. The price could not be beat, especially compared to the Ruger or others at $300 higher. If there was one change I would have liked, it would have been for a swing out cylinder instead of the "gate" at the back of the cylinder to load and punch out the spent cases.

My first handgun in the 60's was a Hi Standard Double Nine that was a single and double action with the swing out cylinder. I sold it 25 years years ago at my wife's urging. That was a move I have regretted many times since as I don't have the wife now, let alone that fun gun. I think you will really enjoy your Heritage Rough Rider and I urge anyone still considering it to get the LR/Mag version. It is fun and would be good for varmit control too.

I think it's called SAS or single action shooting. Not wanting to go PRO, just want to have some fun shooting guns from that era.

Just got back from the range, & I can't seem to stop smiling.
The Heritage was a lot of fun, Being used to shooting semi-auto, it was a learning experience.
Same with the Henry, will take some practice to get good with it.
Ran CCI Blazer lr through both guns, with no problem.
Only Mags I have are Hornady, (not cheap), so I ran 24 through the revolver.
Accuracy of both guns was really good. Shot the revolver at 7 yds., & the rifle at 25 yds.
For what I bought these for, they exceeded my expectations. I would recommend both guns highly for the price.

Congrats missoak...!!

Stoeger makes a nice coach gun that would fit right in with your cowboy setup...

Thanks, not sure I'd want to spend the extra $200 on the Stoeger. Nice gun tho'. It was the first side by side I looked at.
Going to a gun show Fri. Hopefully I can get to handle them before I decide.

Ended up finding a nice used Stoeger in .410. Re-finished the stock & it looks like new.
Will be setting up some stages when we get to the cabin.
Grandson is stoked !
