Couple Questions

I have to agree with Islander. Never on school property. I remove all, even the holster (paddle holster makes it a bit easier) and leave it in the vehicle. I doubt anyone in my little town would make a fuss over me carrying, but its to be on the safe side.

This is what the VA statute says:
O. The granting of a concealed handgun permit shall not thereby authorize the possession of any handgun or other weapon on property or in places where such possession is otherwise prohibited by law or is prohibited by the owner of private property.

All that means is that a concealed handgun permit shall not override the rights of property owners to prohibit guns on their property. If private property, such as Wal Mart, is posted with no guns signs (and I know Wal Mart does not post), and you carry past that sign, you have broken NO firearms laws. If however, the management/owner of that porperty asks you to leave and you do not, you are trespassing.

Strapping up in public is no real issue in VA because open carry is legal in VA, even without a permit. I would not take the gun out of the holster and be fiddling with it in public, though.

It's the same way in Kentucky, where I reside. If asked to leave, leave. If you don't leave and LEO are called, then it's Criminal Trespassing which is pretty bad but there are no firearms law violations involved.

As the old saying goes, "Concealed means CONCEALED"! If no one knows, no one asks!

I am not advocating breaking the law, but if you carry concealed correctly, concealed means concealed. I've carried into my kids' high school when I was just going to do a quick business and I also carried in a state that I didn't have a valid permit, but it had been valid in that state until just a couple months before I was there. Considering where I was with my family, I felt it necessary to carry even without a valid permit. I never had any problems and knowing I would have been able to defend my family if any problems had arisen made it worth the risk. I may get some heat for this on here but my family's safety took priority over the possibility of going to jail for carrying without a permit. As the old saying goes, I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

You live dangerously dude, I would carry in the post office bank or police station, before going armed into a school, around here the cops would have you shot, tazered, drawn, quartered, and in cuffs even before they ask your name

As I said, concealed means concealed. The point being, if you properly carry concealed, no one will ever know unless you have to go through a metal detector. And I don't carry through security at the airport or courthouses so no one knows that I carry except a couple close friends, my wife, and kids.

If you are carrying concealed, and enter a place (store, etc.), as long as they don't have a sign that says firearms are prohibted, are you good to go? What if they do have a sign somewhere and you don't see it? Are you breaking some law or could they just ask you to leave?

Also, lets say you were carrying, but need to go to some place where it is illegal to carry, so you take off your holster, put it in your trunk, and strap back up when you return. Is it okay to do that in public as long as you are not actually handling the firearm (it's still in the holster).

I'm not 21 yet, but plan to carry concealed when I turn 21 in a few months and just want to make sure I know the rules. Although, I'm at college half the year and of course won't be able to have a gun there.[/QU


I have to write a letter to a judge to convince him to giv me a full carry permit but i dont have n e convincing argument or how to start can n e one help me pls?

The answer to this query is really based upon the state in which you reside. I'm in Kentucky and so those NFA signs mean nothing really UNLESS they're locates in places that are restricted areas such as jails, prisons, police stations, federal buildings, etc. If they're located in stores then they mean nothing here and we in the CC community DO NOT disarm for them. It only draws more unneeded attention than just continuing to CC.

They can ALWAYS ask you to leave and if asked, LEAVE! Otherwise, it's considered to be Criminal Trespassing, something NO ONE needs!

CC in schools

Hey Goat: Down here where I live, each school has a police officer in the school all day. If you go to the school for any reason, you have to check in through the main office because all other doors are locked. I have never been checked when going to the school to pickup my grandchildren but, just to be on the safe side, I do not carry my weapon inside. Sadly, the police officers are there because of student behavior more than any other reason. Sad state of affairs!:wacko:

I know Ga. gun laws are a little more liberal then most states and was not sure if they were using metal detectors or not. I know now it is better to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission.
